Seattle Nurse Residency Programs

Nurses New Nurse

Hello,

I am from the Seattle area but am in an ABSN program in Montana and will be graduating in August. I have applied to UW Medical Center's residency program and Harborview Residency Program. I am waiting to apply to Swedish's November residency program. Does anyone have any information on the hiring process at UW or Harborview? Any tips on getting jobs at these hospitals or how long you had to wait to get an interview?

Thanks so much!

There are many residencies in the Seattle area, including the ones you named. Also look at Overlake, Providence, Virginia Mason and Seattle Children's. IF you google WSNA you can look at that website for varies contracts of Seattle area hospitals that use WSNA (Washington state nurses association) as their union. Most list their pay scales for each hospital.

For UW Medical Center once you apply to the residency program the first step is a call/email from a nurse recruiter to set up a phone interview. If that goes well they’ll set up an in person interview. From what I can tell they don’t have specific cohorts for residencies, but have new employee orientations a few times a month. I think Harborview’s residency is more of a cohort. Seattle Children’s has open houses for their residency programs and I know they have a lot of interest so they are very competitive. I’d recommend broadening your search to include things like Providence in Everett. They have a well established residency program

I currently work at UWMC so I was able to get an interview within a couple weeks. Swedish I never heard from.

Hi! I will be graduating with my BSN in December moving from Austin, Texas. I was wondering if someone could direct me to a forum for new grad nurses transferring states?
