DH is in Seattle and seems to have fallen in love with it. Help me out here, what is the tri-city area? How close are they of a drive?
What are considered the nice areas of Seattle and the suburbs to live in? A nice single family (not huge, not brand new, just a nice home in a good neighborhood) costs about what? More than $350k?
What should a person know about the area? Does the caffeine make up for the rain?

Hi
I just moved here myself! I haven't experienced too much rain here, yet. I would live near bellevue, but it might be cost prohibitive. The areas here are different than I am used too. You can have million dollar homes and 1 block down have a trailer park.

Hi...first off I was raised here in the Seattle area and lived here most of my life. The Tri-City area, or "Tri-Cities" as they are known as, is located clear across the eastern part of the state. We're talking about 200+ miles/3+ hour drive. So, if you had any thought of living in the Tri-Cities and working in Seattle...well, I think a change of plans would be within your best interest.
The most expensive areas of the city to live in are downtown (as with any other large city) and what is known as the "eastside." The Eastside consists of Bellevue, Kirkland, Woodinville, Mercer Island... too many to name. You might want to look south of the city...Renton, Kent or Maple Valley. A coworker of mine just bought a home in that region and got considerably more that what you would get if buying elsewhere.
Climate-wise, the Seattle area has a marine climate. It never gets oppressively humid. It also never gets too hot, well maybe for a few days in the summer. During the winter, it's wet... it's seldom is too cold to snow.
Hope this helps...JJ
