I am LPN in KY. (12 Yrs) I have a very diversified background as my husband has had 4 jobs eliminated due to outsourcing in his computer field(all within 4 years!):crying2::crying2::crying2:

I have worked in corrections, ICF/MR facilities, M.D offices, education training med techs,home health,nursing homes and hospitals as well as acute care settings.

I have never worked out of KY before as a Nurse. My husband may be taking job in Ohio or Virginia.:imbar:eek:

Does anyone out there know if I will be required to have more college education or can I just apply for state license? My License is in excellent standing within KY!:nurse: Is this an expensive process? And are you allowed to work while waiting for your license? I currently work under a contract that is headquartered out of OHIO and they are great to work for!:yeah:

from what i have been told when i moved, was i could work on my current license for 30 days while waiting for my new one to arrive,,,i would recommend that you file the applications and send in the appropriate funds to get started. good luck wit your move!!!

Sorry, but that is not true. You must have an actual license number issued from the new state to be able to work. Anything different from that and you need to get it from the actual BON. Never assume something like this from an employer or a friend.

It could keep you from working for ever.

Licenses do not transfer, you need to have the new one before you can even begin orientation.

Your training will be fine to endorse, just make sure that you have a license first before beginning to work.

i have moved several times and each time i was allowed to work under the current/active license i had, according to BON you have 30 days to obtain a license from your new state

even if you are going from one compact state to another you have 30 days to obtain the license from your state of residence. if it takes longer than 30 days you have to apply for a temporary license.

perhaps i misunderstood the original question, sorry about that
