Searching hard for a great online LPN-RN program

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Please assist me in finding a great online LPN-RN program. I really need to earn my RN very soon.

I just want to add to this. Yes its only 3 days and MOST people going through Excelsior are at least LPN's so they have a pretty good baseline as far as skills go. And you have to take into consideration that the clinical is testing you on NEW grad RN skills.

You can take most, if not all the prereqs through excelsior. I had all of mine done prior to starting. My advice would be to take your prereqs at another school in your area only because it probably cheaper and probably not as difficult.

I enrolled in Excelsior College earlier this year and so far am very happy with the school. From what I have read and graduates I have talked to, if you put the time into it you will do fine. I think the cost of Excelsior is pretty reasonable, and I am doing the exam option which is less than if I took the 8 week classes. I hope to complete the program in a year or less, and I started in April.

Lower Columbia College in Washington and Hutchinson Community College in Kansas have hybrid programs. All the theory online then short bursts of clinicals onsite.

Make sure if you are an out of state student doing a program like this its approved by your BRN. Some states want concurrent theory and lab classes and this would not qualify you for a license or the ability to take boards. Nor could you transfer your license there if you wanted to move.

Can you do half prerequisites at your local community college and the other half online with excelsior? Anyone else know any info on that also

Im not sure how it works if you are enrolled in 2 different schools at the same time, but I don't see why it would be a problem if you aren't using financial aid at excelsior. I took micro through excelsior because mine had expired. It was difficult through excelsior. Maybe try doing your sciences at a community college and your social sciences through excelsior. Excelsior will accept credits from other schools as long as its a community college or university. I earned my LPN though a private trade school and nothing would transfer. Luckily I had been to a community college prior.

I'm in a Lpn program now. Plan on taking the rest of my prereqs after I finish and move on to Lpn to bsn bridge. Excelsior sounds like it might be my way to go. How do you like it so far?

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.
