I've been lurking around allnurses.com for a while, and I finally signed up! I was hoping to find some others that were applying to SDSU's nursing program for Fall 2010. I just submitted my application to the school, and I'm working on the actual nursing app now.
I'm super worried about the point system. While my great are fine (at a 3.71 cumulative), I'm worried about not having any hospital experience. I'm hoping that not having experience doesn't take me out of the running. I'm waiting until the end of this semester, I think, to take the TEAS.
I'd love to hear from any with advice or anyone who is applying for Fall 2010.

I am applying for Fall 2010. I haven't submitted my application yet because I am unsure of what classes what critera will be used to score my appliacation. I am a cc student, are you? I go to SWC in Chula.
Hopefully we'll both get in, but I am making alternate plans to attend National University in RB
i am also going to take the teas test after the semester. are you going to use the ati book or are you using another?
I'm attending Miramar and Mesa College for my prereqs. I thought about applying to National University, but I'm still unsure. I submitted an app to CSUSM as my backup school.
Hopefully I can do well on the TEAS, because that's going to be the only thing getting me points other than my GPA. I got this book from Barnes and Noble to study with.
Do you guys have volunteer or work experience, and what points are you working with? I think my points total 65 of 90. Because we're applying for Fall 2010, do we use the 2009 admission criteria?
I am using the fall 2009 criteria. I started doing pre reqs a few semester ago but unfortunately I missed the spring 2009 semester and I have to use the fall 2009 criteria (I already emailed someone at state they said I have use fall )
I have about the same points you do, and that's with me gunning to get a 97 on the teas. I have been studing but I am going to do 2 weeks worth of super concentrated study (no work, no school, no thing but TEAS) before I take the test at the end of the semester.
Unfortunately I don't have any work experience. I am a pre-health student intern at Palomar Pomerado Health and what I am going to use this application.
I really don't want to go to National, I am only really going to go if I get rejected twice by SDSU (2010 and 2011).
I wonder how they are going to grade the applicants using the old criteria and the new criteria in the same cohorts. Like, what gets more credit the fall 2009-ers or the other pre-fall 2009-ers - i mean the cutoff points can't be the same because they are different scales.
If I don't get accepted this cylce, I am going to re-take human anatomy ( I got a B) so I can a 4.00 for the pre reqs and get my CNA license and CNA job. If that doesn't get me in, I don't know what eles will.

hey
this is good and bad news. i do not to burst your bubble but i went to a meeting with the head of the nursing department and in the meeting they said that the highest they had gotten on the teas is a 94. however, they were going to curve to whatever was the highest percentage of the year was, so thats the good news. some more good news is that they said that only about 1percent is going to have work experience so its nothing to even sweat.
hope that eases your mind i know it did when i heard it.
Thank you for that little tidbit. That reassures me more than ever. So it's essentially going to be a battle of the TEAS and GPAs?
That's really really great to know. I am still shooting for 97 - gotta dream big, you know?
yeah its going to between teas, pre-requisite gpa, cumulative gpa and volunteer hours.

Hey guys,
I'm also applying for Fall 2010 from a CC. I was wondering; did you get confirmation that they received your fall application? I just turned in my final packet and I started thinking, "What if they never received my fall application to the nursing school?"
Of course, a panic attack ensued. I figured I'd call the school tomorrow just to be sure, because I mailed it on November 25th and on my little receipt from usps, it had a projected date of getting there on November 30th exactly. Then again, who knows with the postal system..
I don't remember getting a confirmation letter from the program, but I do know that I got a confirmation after applying through csumentor. My declared major is nursing on webportal, so I assume it went through. I'm very glad they extended the deadline for the packet to be turned in. I needed the time to get my transcripts. I'm starting to get a bit worried because I only have 59 points out of the 90. Keeping my fingers crossed. Does anyone know of a place that has the averages of students admitted to the BSN program? CSUSM has one on their website, which is very nice.

hello everybody. I was planning to apply to SDSU but heard that they are asking for ORGANIC chem not the combination of inorganic organic and biochem that mot schools ask for. I even called to make sure was everyone informed about this?
