Has anyone applied to any of the Clinical Nurse I position at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose? If yes, have you received a call/email for an interview, and for which unit?
Also if you are willing to share the questions you were asked during your interview, that would be amazing!! Good luck to all ?
Thanks ?
Good luck to all of you! I had my interview last month. Yes, I start on 3/6/2023! The interview is straight forward. In my case, two assistant nurse managers interviewed me. One of the scenario questions included was, what would you do to prevent an older adult patient with dementia from getting off the bed and falling? I let them know that I would know by then the hospital policy on fall precautions, I would put a bed alarm, non-skid socks, maintain a calm environment, nurse call button close, etc. Because this is for new grads and nurses changing specialty, they expect that we know the basics about communication, peer rapport, basic safety measures, etc. They made it sure that you will not be able to take any time off during the 13 week training period and will need to follow the training nurse on her schedule. So need to be prepared for the rigidity of the program.

Thank you so much! Are you also a new grad?

Thank you! That was super helpful! Do you know how many people they hire for the program?
Does anyone know what happens if you don't pass the initial exam with 80%?
Do you get kicked out of the program? Are you given another chance to retake? If anyone has advice I would love to know!
(My interview is on Friday like most people here, I just tend to stress out about things in advance LOL)
PCU said:In the offer letter, it clearly states that you are expected to pass after one chance. But I heard from others here that the NCLEX was harder. The unit also expects that after a year or so, you will apply for Board Certification, CCRN. The cost of the test is included on the offer.
So I'm guessing that means if you don't pass they you're out? Is it a long exam or a shorter one?

I want to say it depends on how you're doing on the floor. I know someone failed and they were allowed to retake.
nursing school exams were definitely harder but you just have to understand and know the material.
@PCU how long after your interview were you informed you got the offer? @SoCaltoNorCal how did you do Friday? Hope we both get in.
