Scuffed Danskos

I don't have an answer for you. I just wanted to say that I have a pair of brown leather Danskos that I have had for going on four years now. They are scuffed on the toes and heels, but I like them that way...it gives them character. I don't think they look unprofessional, it looks like I work my tushy off!

(I'm also not a spit polish and shine person, either...although, I do get a little nuts over uniforms and clothes not ironed.)

Wash them really well with leather cleaner and get a white leather repair kit from a shoe store. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 times with the leather cleaner to get them ready for the repair kit. Then polish them after they are clean and dry. If you want to keep them pretty and prevent further scuffs, put a thick coat of polish on them and reapply once or twice a month. The polish will be what scuffs off and the hide will stay intact. You will never get them to look like new again since the hide is affected, but you can get them looking much better.

I used to do this when I was a poor high school student and had to make my basketball shoes stretch to the end of the season. It was much cheaper to pay for the repair kit than shell out for new shoes.

I wanted to add in that I used acetone to clean dark scuffs on my danskos. It was effective! But too much will remove the paint!

Because my shoes were so comfy I saved them for when I returned to school. They looked awful but felt awesome. So I bought an Angelus leather paint kit and repainted them. They looked good for about a week.

Looking back, I should have moisturized them to minimize cracks....

At least once you begin working you can wear non white shoes!
