Scrubs!!!!

Published

The school that I am attending requires us to wear scrubs on a daily basis and so far the ones that I have tried are not that most flattering.

Can anyone recommend some scrubs that are cute AND don't make you like chubby or boxy?!

Be thankful you have a choice of what to wear. My CNA school gave us our scrubs as part of our tuition. The tops are the biggest, boxiest things and the pants are big. BUT...they soften in the wash and if not wrinkled, they actually look okay. Because they soften, they flow more with your movements and you can tell there's a waist hiding in there under the bulk of the clothes. I'll admit, I was a bit of a nerd on the first day of class because as we all walked in, I felt so "official" with all of us wearing our nice new scrubs. I've been working on pre-reqs for 3 years and finally completed them. In a few short weeks, I'll be working with patients and that's exciting. So, I got over the "ugly scrub" feeling really quick.

I started looking for (and purchasing) scrubs early so I will have some on hand when I finish training and am working. I'll work as a CNA while in nursing school. I found Koi Lindsay pants to be the cutest. They are a junior fit so sit on your hips rather than up on your waist. They actually sit about half-way in between. They are a cargo pant so lots of pockets to carry everything you need. This makes them functional and more attractive at the same time.

I go for tops that are gathered at the waist some. I have a curvy figure & want people to know I have a waist. Smalls fit me the way my street clothes would fit (snug and flattering) but then the pockets don't hold nearly as much so I order Mediums and cinch the waist on the pants. This allows much more movement and the pockets hold more because they aren't plastered against my body (it can expand in both directions). I get cold easily and may desire to layer during the colder months so the extra size helps with that as well.

I hated scrub shopping in the beginning because it was so hard to find pants I wanted. I hate the $30 price tag of these, but reviews say they last a very long time. I tried a cargo pant from Life Uniform and found them to be very thin. They were $17 so I thought they were a bargain at first but the Koi pants are a sturdier material that was still very soft and it just felt like it was made better. I don't have a favorite brand for tops yet. They seem to be more forgiving than the pants.

For me, going into a store (Life Uniform) and trying on one of everything seemed to do the trick...particularly for the pants. Then I went online and shopped around for prices. www.scrubmart.com gave me a 10% coupon that actually worked for the Kois. Most uniform sites' coupons don't apply to name-brand scrubs and that was annoying since most of the scrubs they carry are name-brands.

I wear koi pants mostly they are cute and functional and also comfy' plus I'm petite and they have a great petite line....

Goodluck

I wear koi scrubs. I really love their pants. I'm trying to find a good excuse to buy some greys anatomy scrubs. They are so soft!! But they don't have as many pockets as the kois.

It's a beautiful day to save lives.

Hey! Some of us are just glad for what they cover up... :D

But seriously, even six or eight years ago (when I was still in my tummy shirt days), I would have really been unhappy with the scrub look.

In fact, the ugliness of scrubs caused me to feel both pity and admiration for women in nursing.

That said, with all of the contortions one can get one's self into when caring for people, physically, scrubs do offer some peace of mind when it comes to modesty issues.

Still, it seems to me that they could come up with some more "hourglassy" (cinched at waist) options...

But then, it might draw attention to the ugliness of the shoes.

Oh, well! Scrubs are still exciting. :)

Thank you for the tip on the Koi pants, their AWESOME!!!!

My phleb class is print shirts, solid bottoms, white shoes. For school, I have to purchase school scrubs. And then clinical sites will determine more...

I hate that fact at my school they want us to wear all white scrubs. Like really? Who wants to wear white all day, every day, 5 days a week. I hate that.
