U.S.A. California

Published

Hi all,

I am starting this post for those that are applying for scripps fall program. I applied for their summer program, so had to answer a bunch of questions and sim video. I was wondering if I will have to answer those again for the fall application.

Thanks!

If you scroll up a bit, someone mentioned that it appears as though they are still adhering to that method, however, if you applied by noon you should be ok. Don't take my word for it though!

I know that the job posting was scheduled to be up for a couple of days. Not sure why they would leave it up that long and then only consider the applicants that applies before noon on that first day.

I do believe that they only consider the first 500. Last spring they hit 500 within 4 or 5 hours:( HR told me last time that they actually look at the first 300 and if they don't have enough qualified candidates they look at the other 200. It is just so competitive and there are so many applicants. Stay positive though, you never know! And keep an eye on your current stage of your resume. They should be working fast since the first cohort starts in October.

Here is a copy of what it says, because I know they are going to take it down and we will forget what it says:

The dedicated education unit (DEU) is a patient care unit at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, specifically designed for new graduate nurse orientation, with the goal of creating standardized practice and facilitating role transition in the clinical environment. Clinical coach RNs provide education, coaching and mentoring to new graduate RNs during a 40-week period to develop their competence, confidence, critical thinking and documentation skills. New graduates in the DEU program are trained as a collective group in various units. Upon successful completion of the program, nurses will be placed in a position within the Scripps system.

This posting is for our October 2013 and January 2014 dedicated education unit new grad programs at La Jolla Memorial Hospital. 6 candidates will be selected for the October program and 6 will be selected for the January program.

Please make sure to complete the application in full. This will assist us in the review process. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL BE VOIDED.

**Due to the volume of applicants for our new grad programs, this posting will only remain active for 3 full days and will close on 8/28 at 4:00 pm.

Basic Qualifications: Current California RN license by October 14, 2013 for October participants and December 30, 2013 for January participants. (Please note, if you are selected for the program and can not provide a valid CA RN license by these dates you will be withdrawn from the program.) BLS for Health Care Provider from the American Heart Association required by same dates.

Minimum Qualifications: To be eligible to apply, new grads must have completed an accredited nursing program within the last year. Qualified applicants must have less than six months of RN experience at date of application for the program. Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications: BSN preferred.

Hi, Thanks for that response. I appreciate it!

Hi all. Does anyone here think Scripps prefers only those with BSN, and those with ADN don't have a chance of being selected?

Under "preferred qualifications" it says BSN preferred... but not required. So I'd still definitely give it a shot!!

Definitely apply!! They prefer BSN for their magnetic status but they can also hire ADN if it is a good candidate. I know a girl that got hire at Scripps and she only have ADN. There is still hope. I too only have ADN and I am hopping that by haven done my preceptorship there it would count. Finger crossed!

I applied as well :) Good luck to all of us!

I also applied for the Oct/Jan DEU for La Jolla 7W and got an interview schedule. This is the 2nd time applying for DEU (I wasn't selected for an interview last May but was selected for the RN residency program). Has anyone got an interview schedule? I'm so nervous at this point. Fingers crossed and hopefully will get it this time.

Cheezyguy congratulation on getting that interview. When did they call you??

I was wondering what kind of work and volunteer experience you have. I've been applying to scripps since last October and unfortunately have yet to receive a call. It is my dream to work at Scripps. Also any tips or ideas to make me more appealing is much appreciated! Thanks!
