Does it change every block? Is it 12 hour lectures? Any insight will be appreciated!!! Thank you :)

The schedule does change every semester, but as far as I'm aware each block keeps its schedule each semester.

Block 1:

- Class Tuesday 8-2:30

- Lab either Thursday or Friday depending on your clinical schedule 8-12:30

- CLA and skills check offs are a couple Wednesdays out of the semester for 4-6 hours

- Clinical one day a week for 8 hours starting in week 3

Block 2:

- Class Monday 8-12:30

- Lab Tuesday 8-2:30

- CLA and checkoffs on a couple Wednesdays in the semester

- Clinical once a week for 12 hours

Block 3:

- Class Thursday 8-12:30

-No lab

- CLA and clinical prep are Wednesdays for a couple hours to 8 hours.

- Clinical once a week for 12 hours

Block 4

- Class Wednesday 9-3

- CLA on Saturdays for 6 hours

- Clinical 1 day a week for 12 hours

- Last 3 weeks of semester is Preceptorship where you will work alongside and RN for 3 12s a weeK

Also, keep in mind that clinical can literally be any day of the week depending on the facility they got spots at for your clinical group. Also, the last 2 weeks of every semester except 4 is has a lot of points and you will need adequate study time. You will have a final practicum, HESI exit exam, a regular exam, and the final exam.

Thank you so much! This is very helpful!

If you don't mind me asking. What was your GPA And hesi score that you were accepted with? I'm applying in February

If you are applying for just the maricopa program they dont look at your grades as long as you have a passing grade and for the university the hesi scores just have to be above 80% overall i have an 83% and my GPA is around a 3.3 but every university is different for their requirements for GPA so look into it depending on the university :) they pretty much accept you as long as you meet all their requirements :)

Oh I thought it was more competitive for CEP. Cool thanks!

Is there class on Mondays in block one at SCC?

Mrsboots, can you tell me what time you're usually done every day? I'm trying to prepare for childcare and wanted to know if I would be able to pick my kids up from school or if I need to make arrangements. Thank you!

The times listed for classes in my first comment are pretty much spot on. It will change each semester. The days may change if there is some need for a schedule change, but the times are pretty always the same. The instructors go to the end time most days.

In block 1 there is no class on Monday. Only possibility is if you get clinical on that day.

There have been other schools using our sim lab for practice this semester, so that may change some of the normal scheduling. What I have listed is the schedule I had for each semester and what I have seen of the last 3 classes. So it appears they usually use the same schedule for each new corhort. But again, it could change if they need it too.

Thanks so much for the info. Do you enjoy the program at SCC? How are the instructors?

I LOVE this program. All but like 2 of the instructors are fantastic and really want you to succeed. Like 2 of them are just terrible instructors. They are nice but just aren't the best at teaching. The sim lab experience is great. It's a tough program and bout half the class will fail in block 1 and 2. But they definitely prepare for NCLEX well as shown by high 90s NCLEX pass rates. We get good clinical experiences and nice hospitals. I like the condensed class schedule. Instead of goin 2-3 times a week for just lecture, it's all in one day. It makes for a long day, but more freedom to study or work, or have a bit of a personal life. It's been around for like 40 years so the curriculum and program itself are solid.

My understanding is that the CEP program IS a bit more competitive. 3.0 GPA is required for them to even look at your application. NAU is the best route if you do CEP as they require the least amount of pre-requisites. But, you will have classes during the summer as well as the regular semester.

Personally, I find it's less stress if you just go ahead and do the associates and then get a job because most hospitals will pay for your BSN in Phoenix. The only thing you have to consider is that if you don't already work at a hospital, it may be tougher for you to get a job as an RN with an associates.

Hope this helps someone in the slightest!
