Science Prerequisites for CRNA School

I'm looking at applying for CRNA school around June-December of 2014. I will have my BSN done in the next couple months and will start looking at science prerequisites from there. The only issue seems to be that I have never been required to take any chemistry classes for my studies up to this point. From my research I have gathered that most CRNA programs require either an Organic Chemistry course or a Biochemistry course, along with the other usual prerequisites. It seems as though all the schools in my area require me to take a year of General Chemistry before starting the Organic Chemistry classes. I have also looked into online classes, but online Chemistry classes are few and far between. Has anyone else encountered a similar situation?

I haven't but I'd suggest trying to take a chemistry course ASAP as it will assist you in Anesthesia school! Best of luck

Did you look under online programs in the College of Osteo Medicine? I believe those are open entry courses.

You are correct, this looks like a viable option. On the website it mentions to check with each particular school to see if they accept the credits, do you know if CRNA programs might have an issue with these classes. I'm looking into programs around Texas.

hey commonsense - I was you a few years ago. I wanted to do science in person, although I have taken a ton of other online classes and did well. My local schools all required the year of gen chem before ochem, then biochem. I did the year of gen chem, then one of the ochem series as my schedule made it to where I could not continue. I wasn't able then to do biochem. I applied and was accepted. If you want to, you have plenty of time to do the series over then next year, and you can always indicate on your app that your ochem is in progress. you would also probably pay less for those 4 classes than one or two at une.
