Academics Programs

Founded in 1701, Yale University, a private, non-profit institution, is the third-oldest institution of higher education in the United States and one of the nine Colonial Colleges chartered before the American Revolution.

Founded through funding by the Rockefeller Foundation in 1923, the Yale School of Nursing (YSN) is a specialty graduate level program for nurses. To become eligible, applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree.

Graduate Entry Pre-specialty in Nursing (GEPN)

The Graduate Entry Pre-specialty in Nursing (GEPN) is a track for students who have no nursing background and would desire the MSN. The length of the program is two terms and one Summer session in addition to the two-year specialization sequence.

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)

This program is for RNs who are interested in advanced practice nursing and have a commitment to high quality delivery of healthcare.

This combined nurse midwifery-women's health NP program is designed to prepare students to be eligible for CNM certification by the Certification Examination of the American Midwifery Certification Board and certification as a WHNP by the National Certification Corporation (NCC).

Concentrations

Diabetes Care

This program focuses on clinical practice and management and is designed for students in their final year of study.

Adult Oncology

The adult oncology concentration is presented in a classroom and clinical setting for students to gain experience in the care of adults with cancer.

Global Health

The global health concentration has a focus on preparing students to serve international and domestic populations as educators, clinicians, scholars, and policy makers. This program utilizes classroom didactic courses as well as experiences through clinical and scholarly activities.

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

The DNP program helps to prepare the nurse for roles in the evidence-based practice of patient care, education, policy, and executive leadership. Students learn to translate evidence-based research into practice and implement clinical practice changes within healthcare systems. The post-master's DNP program builds upon previous nursing education and experience to become leaders in his or her field of expertise.

The program includes a DNP Capstone Project. Students will work with a DNP Capstone Project Advisor and at the end of the third year of study, formally present the project.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

The Doctor of Philosophy program in Nursing is in the top 5 programs in the US. The program is designed to prepare nurses as research scientists in academic and clinical settings where research skills are needed. Students have the opportunity to study with nationally and internationally recognized faculty to address healthcare problems throughout the country.

Joint Degrees

Yale Divinity School Joint Degrees

Yale School of Nursing and the Yale Divinity School offer a joint degree program in nursing and divinity. The joint degree includes an advanced nursing practice with social or religious ministry that might involve direct practice, planning, and policy making in a variety of health care systems.

Yale School of Public Health Joint Degree

Yale School of Nursing and the Yale School of Public Health offer a joint-degree opportunity in nursing and public health. Students will have the opportunity to work in direct practice, planning, and policy making in a variety of public health care systems.
