    In 1904, Phillips School of Nursing (PSON), a private, not-for-profit institution, was founded with a distinct focus on exceptional nursing education at the associate's and baccalaureate levels. The clinical rotations are held at top-ranked centers throughout New York City. The three nursing programs offered are in hybrid formats:  Accelerated Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing (ADN), Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) and RN to BSN.

    The Mount Sinai Health System is New York City's largest integrated delivery system encompassing seven hospital campuses, a leading medical school, and a vast network of ambulatory practices throughout the greater New York region.

    Accelerated Associate of Applied Science with a Major in Nursing Program

    This 15-month program is a hybrid program for students that are academically talented and want to finish a nursing degree at a fast pace. After graduation, students are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN licensure examination and offered priority for admission to PSON’s RN-BSN program.

    Accelerated BSN Program (ABSN)

    If you hold a baccalaureate degree in another field, the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is designed for you.  Students can become a nurse in 15-months. This program is a hybrid program as well. Afterwards, the graduate is eligible to take the NCLEX-RN licensure examination and is well-prepared to pursue masters-level education in nursing. 

    ABSN Admission Requirements (not all inclusive)

    • Completed portfolio
    • Bachelor’s degree in a field other than nursing from a nationally or regionally accredited institution
    • Official transcript from each institution attended
    • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25
    • Minimum Prerequisite GPA of 3.0
    • Official high school transcript or copy of GED score
    • Two letters of recommendation
    • Statement of purpose
    • Current resume
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Heath Care Providers Certification:  Only BLS certification from the American Heart Association is accepted

    RN-BSN Program

    The RN-BSN is designed for nurses who already hold an RN license through an associate's or diploma program and want to pursue a BSN.  The program is offered in a hybrid format with classes held on Wednesdays, allowing nurses to continue working. After graduation, nurses are well prepared to move on to a Graduate degree.

    Admissions Requirements (not all inclusive)

    • Completed portfolio
    • Unrestricted and unencumbered current license and current registration to practice as a registered nurse in New York State
    • New associate degree graduates will be admitted conditionally and must submit documentation of RN licensure on or before the completion of the first semester of attendance in order to remain in the program
    • Official transcript from each institution attended
    • Associate of Science in Nursing, Associate of Applied Science in Nursing, or Diploma in Nursing
    • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
    • C+ or higher in all nursing courses
    • Minimum prerequisite GPA 3.0 for science and math courses
    • Minimum GPA OF 2.50 for all other prerequisites
    • Official high school transcript or copy of GED score
    • Two letters of recommendation
    • Statement of purpose
    • Current resume
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Heath Care Providers Certification:  Only BLS certification from the American Heart Association is accepted
    • Documentation of current professional liability (malpractice) insurance

    Accreditation and Approval

    The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited the ADN program.

    The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited the BSN program.

    The New York State Board of Regents and the Commissioner of Education New York State Education Department approved the ADN program.

    The New York State Board of Regents and the Commissioner of Education New York State Education Department approved the BSN program.

    Distinctions and Accolades

    Phillips School of Nursing (PSON) at Mount Sinai Beth Israel has been named a Center for Excellence in Nursing Education™ by the National League of Nursing (NLN) for the years 2018-2022.

    PSON is listed as one of the top 75 private nursing schools in the United States by Nursing Schools Almanac (2018).

    I was wondering if you knew for the accelerated program if I’m accepted for August 2019 to start am I allowed to defer my acceptance until August 2020?

    i tried to call the school but the office keeps saying it’s closed.
