    Nursing Programs - Campus Locations

    Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

The Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) integrated program of study is offered by LSC-Kingwood, LSC-Montgomery, LSC-North Harris, and LSC-Tomball.  Curriculum is based on nursing concepts in the classroom, laboratory, as well as clinical hours to gain hands on experience.

The Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) block program is offered by LSC-CyFair. In a block nursing curriculum, learning experiences are divided by content area focusing on one area at a time.

Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Transition Program - Online Second Degree Program

LSC-Kingwood offers the QUEST Online LVN Transition Program and Online Second Degree Program. These two programs are designed for students who want to complete the nursing program with self-directed guidance, as well as those who need to be flexible. There are three parts of the curriculum that include didactic, lab skills, and clinical coursework. The didactic as well as the classroom portion is offered online to help with the student’s flexible schedule.  The laboratory portion is the online component plus weekly scheduled practice times on campus.  The clinical courses are completed weekly with a faculty member at a clinical facility.

The Online Second Degree program is for basic track students with a prior college degree in a different field. The length of the program is over two years, but the QUEST program can be completed faster. There are four sets of courses in the basic track program with completion expected in four consecutive semesters, but students can take more classes if they feel like they can keep up with the demands.

The Vocational Nursing Certificate (LVN) program is offered at LSC-CyFair, LSC-Kingwood, LSC-Montgomery and LSC-Tomball. Students who enter in this certificate program are prepared to provide nursing care for clients in a variety of health care settings.

The Transition to Professional Nursing (RN) program is offered at LSC-Kingwood, LSC-Montgomery, LSC-North Harris, and LSC-Tomball. Graduates of a vocational nursing program who become licensed as a LVN and complete the required prerequisite general education courses, may be eligible to apply for the transition program. This online program is designed to be completed within one year.  This will allow completion of three levels or sets of courses in three consecutive semesters.

    Testing Requirements

Students interested in the nursing programs must complete national standardized nursing pre-entrance tests and meet the minimum score requirement. Students will be required to take nationally-normed tests during the program.

    Vocational Nursing Certificate

This is a three semester, one year, full-time, 48 credit hour certificate program.  Nursing graduates may apply to sit for the NCLEX-PN to become eligible for state licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).

Admission Criteria - Online Second Degree Program (LSC-Kingwood only)

Students must be able to complete online course curriculum and have proof of taking an online course in the past, as well as be able to function independently. Due to certain immigration requirements and/or status, international students may have limitations on taking online courses.
