On-Campus, Online Nursing Programs

Since 1985, Collin College has been offering classes and now serves about 53,000 credit and continuing education students each year. Additionally, the college offers over 100 degree programs and certificates in a wide range of disciplines.

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN/AAS)

The Nursing courses for this degree are only offered at Central Park Campus (CPC) in McKinney. 

Admission Requirements (not all inclusive)

  • A Nursing Information Session must be attended by all applicants
  • Complete a nursing application
  • Complete a PSB entrance exam (results valid for 12 months)
  • Submit signed Application Checklist
  • Satisfactory completion (grade C or better): Anatomy and Physiology I, Anatomy and Physiology II, Microbiology
  • Courses acceptable only if taken within five years of application deadline
  • Cumulative GPA on the three above prerequisite courses should be 2.5 or above

Accepted Applicants (not all inclusive)

  • CPR certification (Healthcare Provider) must be from American Heart Association
  • Dental Form and Pre-Entrance Medical form completed by dentist and physician
  • Complete all required immunizations and provide copies of immunization records
  • Complete a TB (Tuberculosis) skin test and provide a copy of the results annually
  • Criminal background check
  • Complete drug screening
  • Proof of Health Insurance documentation

The Nursing program and profession are demanding, yet rewarding. Students must commit to the hard work and dedication that it takes to become a registered nurse. The program is designed in a full-time status. Therefore, some suggestions to be successful in the nursing program include:

  • Work part time or PRN if possible while going through school and studying
  • Try to complete the prerequisite courses before attending the nursing program
  • Allow at least 10 hours outside of clinical/class time to prepare for nursing courses and clinicals
  • Make sure you get enough rest to be sure you are sharp and ready to learn

LVN-RN Bridge Program

The LVN-RN Bridge program offers the opportunity for LVNs to get into the nursing program with some credit from being an LVN.

Application Requirements (not all inclusive)

  • All applicants must attend a Nursing Information Session
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended
  • GPA (cumulative) of at least 2.5 or higher from all completed courses
  • Satisfactory completion (grade C or better): Anatomy and Physiology I, Anatomy and Physiology II, Microbiology
  • Courses acceptable only if taken within five years of application deadline
  • Cumulative GPA on the three above prerequisite courses should be 2.5 or above
  • Immunizations with required documentation
  • Transcript showing successful completion of a Vocational Nursing program
  • Copy of a current LVN license
  • Letter of recommendation/employment verification; must indicate current employment status and work experience as an LVN
  • Applicants must have worked as an LVN full-time during the 6 months preceding application
  • Must have taken the PSB exam within the last year
  • HESI Mobility (second entrance exam) will be administered once admission requirements are met
  • Must have proof of current CPR certification
  • An individual enrolled or planning to enroll in a basic nursing program who has reason to believe that he/she might be ineligible for licensure must petition the Board for a declaratory order to determine eligibility

Approval and Accreditation

The Texas Board of Nursing approved the Collin College nursing programs.

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited the Associate Degree nursing program.

Collin County Community College District is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
