The CCNE-accredited RN-to-BSN degree program builds on prior RN education and prepares you to pursue your professional aspirations as a nurse. The curriculum is designed to build analytical and application skills for a broader scope of practice, help students gain a better understanding of issues that influence care delivery today, and develop evidence-based practices to improve healthcare outcomes for individuals and communities in a variety of healthcare delivery settings.
Capella offers two online learning formats that are flexible, affordable and supportive. Choose from the more structured GuidedPath or FlexPath, Capellas self-paced option. This program is offered online so that you can fit it into your life.
RN to BSN, GuidedPath Option
A structured learning format with an active peer community and faculty guidance. We will set the schedule, you meet the deadlines.
RN to BSN, FlexPath Option
With FlexPath, take courses at your own speed and move on to the next one whenever you're ready. Our self-paced learning format puts you in control. Of all nurses who come to Capella for their BSN, over 90% choose our FlexPath learning format. With FlexPath, you can complete your RN-to-BSN program in 9 months and under $10,000. Fastest 25% of students. Cost varies by pace, transfer credits, and other factors. Fees apply.

If you are an RN with an associate's degree, this online RN-to-MSN program can help streamline your path to a master's degree. Choose the Capella Accelerated Masters Pathway (AMP) option for your RN-to-BSN degree program and start taking masters-level courses, which could potentially save you up to $5,220 on your MSN at Capella.

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
This program emphasizes effective healthcare delivery, patient advocacy, and healthcare. Program graduates are prepared to apply their knowledge and skills to meet diverse patient needs and improve healthcare delivery.*
To earn this degree, students can choose either 26 program points in FlexPath or 52 program credits in GuidedPath. Students have to finish eight core courses, five Advanced Doctoral courses, and one capstone.
*The DNP degree program is not designed to prepare advanced practice registered nurses for roles as nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, certified nurse midwives, or certified nurse anesthetists.
