Any former nsg school faculty member can tell you it's easy to remember those aides and LPNs who said, "I already know everything a nurse knows"

LPNs ARE nurses and we do know everything "nurses"  know. Sometimes even a bit more. Dude seriously. ?

Wonder if those who received licenses will continue to work or if the boards will investigate the previous licensees.

They are pulling nurses off the floor that went to any school under fire pass or fail everyone is under fire right now

This question has led me into discussions (arguments) with many people.  The people that received (bought/purchased) diplomas and took NCLEX exams based on those illegally obtained diplomas are not licensed nurses.  At best, they are nurses' aides.  Not even CNA's.  Doesn't matter if they passed the NCLEX - they are con artists. They should be prosecuted along with those that set up these schools.

If I had a pilot's license (or plumber, electrician, surgeon???) would you want me doing any of those jobs for you?  This is from a site for engineers but is appropriate for nursing too:

"Professional licensure protects the public by enforcing standards that restrict practice to qualified individuals who have met specific qualifications in education, work experience, and exams."

I know someone that completed the entire 12 nursing program somewhere else but couldn't pass the exit exam and went to one of those schools in Florida claiming they re accredited for 4 weeks and get their diploma, passed NCLEX on their 1st try. Every situation is different, not all of them bought the degrees. Some people did attend schools/ clinicals even if it's somewhere else previously. If they bought it without going to school they need to go to jail but if they went to schools the board needs to reconsider.

I'm in no position to judge anyone for obtaining a fake degree. My BSN is legit but I graduated December 2020 in the middle of a pandemic so I spent a whole semester and a half doing clinicals online which was just watching a zoom lecture and doing homework. I don't feel like I was adequately trained and I certainly graduated without knowing a damn thing. As a nursing student I found myself learning, testing, and then forgetting everything  I learned after moving on to the next test. Passing clinical courses had more to do with whether or not the instructor happened to like you as a person and not so much whether you were doing well. I'm just saying my BSN is simply a title and it doesn't mean as much to me as it does to employers. I would've purchased a fake degree if I thought I could get away with it and it would've saved me time.

I can understand your frustration.  Back in the darkest of dark ages when I was in nursing school, clinical made us or broke us.  They were the foundation for the next clinical and/or the next course of study.  I can't imagine trying to go into the hospital environment to work without that clinical background.  Now having said that, I'm sorry to read you would have purchased a fake degree if you could have gotten away with it.  While your pandemic education may not have been the greatest, our profession, yours and mine, does not need to be diluted by those lacking professional education and legal credentials.

Florida Board of Nursing must have issued the ATT based on their acceptance of the schools. I'm curious as to if they warned other boards of schools under investigation. Some of these investigations started years ago.

That's not been my experience in 45 yrs in nursing...caring, resourceful, patient advocates; scant number of  nurses with poor skills, lacking in common sense.  It's important to give back to the profession to educate and nurture future nurses, maintaining high standards started by Florence Nightingale....which we do @ allnurses.

I agree with you. Years ago I was an agency nurse that worked in a massive teaching hospital. My findings were that the other nurses were extremely grateful to see me. My presence made a lighter load on them. But then, I believe you get what you give... If you go in positive, and willing to do the job you get a different response than if you go in with an attitude towards the other nurses because of a predetermined opinion that may not at all be right.

Bingo. I have been traumatized and abused many times throughout my career. But there have been many many more kind coworkers than not.

I have my doubts although DeSantis has announced that the state is allocating $79 million to existing programs to try to help with the shortage. My worry is that there are many more diploma meals in Florida who are all too happy to cut themselves a big slice of that pie.
