Hi...guys and girls...:)

I need help! I really want to become a nurse and I've done some research online and I haven't been to lucky. I have to go to school at night. I have absolutely no choice. I am the head of household and i can't afford to NOT work, otherwise ill be poor and out on the street with my family. I would love to find a school that is in the san fernando valley, night school, possibly on-line. Just for the courses not clinical. Does anyone know of anyplace? I've called a lot of schools and one guy said "well not to be an ******* but you can't do school then" just because i have to work! I'm pretty sure there is other women out there with a family of 5 that wants to go to school, right? Please, I want some advice. I'm willing to work myself up. From associates to greater degrees. :specs:.... Thank you so much.

With love,

Well, where do you work now? Is it possible to do nightshift at work and school during the day instead?

Also, you may want to consider becoming a CNA, it is much less schooling, and would be a good way to introduce yourself to nursing. It also looks good on applications. I know that the Red Cross had a CNA program all over the Los Angeles area.

I live in Sonoma County (the only other place the RC offers the CNA program), and the program here has the option of 4 weeks 8 hrs a day or 8 weeks 4 hrs a day.

I know that Boston Reed (go to http://www.bostonreed.com ) offers LVN on a part time basis, you can plug in your area to see where your nearest school would be. They normally operate with the Adult Schools. I believe it's a 2 year LVN and they go to school I believe 2 nights a week or so. From like 6-10pm and then they do a clinical rotation which I'm not sure how long it is or when it is during the week. Good Luck

Casa Loma in Van Nuys is expensive, but they offer a part time evening LVN program. It is a uphill climb, but can be done.
