school and work?

Nursing Students General Students

I just started nursing school this past week, talk about overwhelming!!! These classes sure aren't like our general ed classes, you actually have to study, just kidding. It seems like a lot to read and to retain. On top of it all I am stressed about how much I should work. It not as if I have a choice, I NEED to work. I live with my boyfriend and have bills to pay. He will be able to help out when he can but not much. I don't know what to do. Thankfully, I have a job that is per diem, but I still need to work at least 32 hrs, a week. Am I crazy to do that? Right now I am taking nursing fundamentals and nursing skills. I'm glad I am finished with my generals. Anyways, my question is how do I balance work and school. Any advice will help. Thanks. Now I need to go study, yeah!

Welcome Rorae, yes you do have to study ;)

The only thing I can say is that if you have no choice other than to work full time then you might want to consider going to school part-time and not overload yourself. This way you can cope with both a little better and don't have to be too stressed.

Good luck to you.

Good luck to you. I worked 32 to 40 hours a week all during nursing school. I wouldn't want to do it again, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
