scared!!

Hey Guys I will be starting a new job soon.I am hearing that at the new job the don and administrator are really mean and they are nit pickers and fire you for anything.Should I take what people are saying or should I just find out for myself? But doesnt every nursing home have a Don and Administrator who act that way?

I don't know if every LTCF has at least one bad manager, being new to this myself, but the word of mouth seems to be a really big red flag. I actually avoided applying at a certain facility because I had heard bad things about it from a few people. Good luck!

I wouldn't avoid a facility just because someone said the DON & admin are "mean." There are a lot of valid reasons as for why people get fired, such as maybe they weren't following facility policies. You have to think also that maybe some employees might not like their DON & admin for personal reasons.

I wouldn't worry about it. If you do your job right & follow the facility's policy, you'll be fine. After all, worrying about it may lessen your ability to perform your duties.

I agree with msyang90. You're there to do a job and as long as you do it well and follow the rules you will be fine. I find that people that are scared of a DON normally aren't the best employees.
