Sawyer Initiative

For what I understand the Sawyer initiative is supposed to require NP schools to supply their students with preceptors. What is the truth here?

Well my cohort only has 4 students me included. So no, I don’t think being more selective would have cut our size down even more. My program is actually pretty difficult compared to others but complaining about the discrepancies doesn’t help.

My point was mostly rhetorical but the overarching premise still stands for NP education in general.

If schools are not providing clinical sites to their students I highly encourage you to file a complaint to the CCNE. On their website it states it is a requirement for accreditation.

Whether this makes NP schools more competitive or not is ultimately a good thing. Many are saying the NP field is becoming saturated so maybe it is for the best if schools become more selective.

Cat is out of the bed, the nursing accreditation bodies got greedy and should have done something years ago.
