Gurnick Academy in Concord, CA. is starting the LVN to BSN program in May. It's a 2 year program, M-F 8-5 with clinicals on the weekends 8-5. TEAS is required.
I just spoke with the advisor regarding their accreditation and here's what I found: Gurnick is NOT WASC accredited which means, your BACHELORS degree is worth: zilch if you cannot transfer to earn your Masters degree or become a NP. You may not be able to get a MASTERS degree with a BACHELORS degree from Gurnick. Unless you go to a FOR PROFIT school. State colleges/Universities may not accept your BSN from Gurnick.
Gurnick is accredited by the national institutional accreditation by the Accrediting Bureau for Health Education and is a private institution approved to operate by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education.
Please, please make sure that if you plan on attending Gurnick's LVN to BSN program and want to eventually pursue higher education from a public university, make sure you do your due diligence and make sure the university will accept transfer credits/BSN degree from Gurnick before you fork out $100,000 for a BSN degree.
That is a lot of money!

This makes sense for anyone checking out ANY program!
Very true, but when it comes to the wallet, we must all do our research before making these "for profit" companies richer than us.

Hello @LVN_Flower,
Thank you for looking into our newly offered BSN (and LVN to BSN) program offered at our Gurnick Academy Concord campus.
Our academy is institutionally accredited by ABHES and BPPE. Additionally, our BSN program is programmatically accredited by the California Board of Nursing (BRN) as are all nursing programs offered by Gurnick Academy.
The acceptance of a transfer of credits is up to the receiving institution.
Please let me know if you have any other questions about the BSN program.
Thanks,
Gurnick Academy

Therefore, other colleges/universities will not accept these transcripts/credits unfortunately, and for Gurnick to charge that kind of money knowing that you are not WASC accredited is like robbing from the poor and making you all at Gurnick rich. If Gurnick is WASC accredited, or becomes WASC accredited, then it would make sense to get a Bachelors degree and spend that kind of money at your institution. Another for profit school Unitek in Fremont is also not WASC accredited, and they are expensive!

Hi All,
I was considering to go to Gurnick from their LVN to BSN program in Concord.
Is it true that the program is really 7 days a week?? Didactic classes on the weekdays and clinicals every Sat/Sun? It sounds very extreme to go everyday? Also, is this program new at Gurnick?
Thank you!
Yes, its a new program that is starting sometime in May. But be careful, they ware not WASC accredited. Read about that accreditation when you have time before applying.

Thanks for the heads up! Are you currently attending an LVN to RN program elsewhere?
Hi! yes, I just applied to International College of Health Science, based in Boynton, Florida. NO TEAS, no entrance exam, just your pre-reqs. its an online/hybrid program. Due to Covid, there are no onsite clinicals, so you would find your clinicals on your own in your city/town that you live in. Its 15 months long, and you can get your RN licensed endorsed in Ca. or whichever state you are in. Currently, there are 1400 students for this cohort beginning next month. You should check it out. Its worth it! a new found LVN friend of mine told me about it, she's in the program.

are you able to find clinicals in CA on your own? How do you like ICHS?
