Hi all,
I thought I would place this here for anyone who may be interested. I was finally accepted into the nursing program last week to start in August. Being excited and scared crapless....i tend to want to get a jump start on things so that I can be prepared for school.
While at Barnes and Noble, in the nursing section, i found an interesting planner. It's "Saunders Student Nurse Planne, Version 6." It's pretty detailed out but keeps it basic so that it can be accomodated to any nursing school. I've only read the first section so far...but it's giving me interesting hints on how to succeed in school as well as manage my time. Unfortunately, I will have to work full time while going to nursing school. This I know will be my biggest challenge.
I paid about $25 for the planner (i believe there are cheaper copies out there) ...but if anyone is interested in see what it's about, here's a link...

I'm wondering about this planner as well! I'm on the fence about buying it. Do you think it is worth the money? Has anyone else ever bought this planner? Thanks for posting this! :) Good luck to us both in N.S.
It's good to read through...but if you are able to look at it while at the bookstore..you can write down the ideas they give you. A lot of it is pretty much common knowledge for getting organized.
I do like having it handy to be able to glance through something that may come up.
You're very welcome on the posting. :)
I'm getting really nervous and excited now...i received my welcome packet today! and wow..is all i can say! lol there is so much to have ready by May 3rd..which is our first meet and greet day.

Thanks for the info.
For anyone who doesn't care if theirs is new (I don't) you can buy really cheap used copies on alibris.com. I buy my textbooks from them all the time and they are uber cheap- I've never paid more than about $35 for anything, and I buy older editions (after getting the prof's okay) for $2 to $4 plus shipping.
I got the planner for .99 plus shipping. (I used a $1 alibris coupon- do a google search for it and you will always find at least a $1 off coupon.)
Very cool! I wish I had done that...lol!
I ALWAYS check alibris first- I save SO much money! And there is always a current coupon code out there, which might only be a dollar, but I'm sure not complaining!
lol a dollar is a dollar! To me, that's a lot! Pinching pennies as much as I can. I'm trying to purchase things as I need them and am looking around constantly for the best buy. Especially for items needed with nursing school.
I went down to the uniform shop where we have to buy our scrub uniforms for school and was able to purchase dansko shoes that are normally $100-129 for $32!!! I was soooo excited!
Thanks again on the advice for alibris. Do they ship pretty quickly as well?
Alibris is actually a one-stop shop for a lot of different booksellers- they have bookstores from all over the country in their inventory, so the shipping time depends on the individual bookseller (which is rated and you can check out before purchasing) but I've never had to wait more than a week for any of my books, and often, the are coming from Washington (I live in NY.) I've been very pleased with them. I just but my micro book ($120ish) for $6 plus shipping. It is 5 years old, but the info is the same and the prof said it was fine.
And I LOVE a good pair of shoes found inexpensively! Our friend owns a children's shoe store, so I got many of my shoes at cost ordering directly from the company- I just have to try them on elsewhere as they don't carry my style/size. ;~)
Once I find out more about the books we are suppose to have, i'm definetly going to check out the site and see if they carry it. Thanks again for the advice!
