Nursing Students NCLEX

I am doing saunders nclex review... as i do these questions, i find myself wondering how close saunders types of Qs are to Nclex types of Qs......

I would appreciate input from anyone who used Saunders to study, and has taken the nclex exam....

Also, i am doing 50 Qs per day from the saunders cd-rom.... how many do others recommend?

:) thank you in advance! :)

I have always heard to do at least 100/day. I know someone who did 300 questions/day (150 in the morning & 150 at night) for 2 weeks.

I also have a Saunders CD. I don't think their questions are set up the same as the NCLEX, but it's good to go over the information for your test. I personally think the questions from the Kaplan Question Trainer CD is most similar to the NCLEX, in level of difficulty & wording, etc.

I am using Saunders CD, Kaplan Question Trainer CD, & Mosby's Review Cards for NCLEX-RN (there are 1170 of these in flashcard form in a box), & I am also planning to do only the questions only from another review book, if time permits. Good luck with studying.

Would you recommend these notecards? What kinds of things do they include?

Thanks for any info!

I would recommend them. Mainly because I have found that they contain information that is not in my Kaplan Coursebook, or they reinforce information that I have read. Plus, you can carry them around with you, & do them in your spare time, like when you're waiting for an oil change :-)

The topics are: Fundamentals (which includes some math calculations), Psych & Mental Health Nursing, Maternal & Neonatal Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Med. Surg (there are A LOT of these), Integrated Concepts (includes Management of Care & Leadership, Cultural Competence, & some other stuff), & there is a Comprehensive Exam which contains 285 questions.

On the back of the cards, it gives rationale as to why the answer is correct. If you're interested in checking them out, here's the ISBN: 0-323-01903-X. I was actually able to check them out at a Barnes & Noble, because there was an open box. There are additional cards included regarding managing anxiety, & test-taking strategies. Good luck.

Hello,

Just wondering where you can get the Kaplan Question Trainer CD...Can you order it on line or do you have to attend one of the Kaplan's review live course. I'm also reviewing for the NCLEX-RN, currently I'm taking a live course and also using Saunders CD/Book and I'm thinking of getting another means of reviewing for the exam. Also how are you guys doing your time management with studying? Any ideas?

Thanks!

First of all, let me say how ironic it is that you pose a question about time management & studying. I am SUCKING bigtime at this! I would also like some input from someone about this.

I have postponed my test SEVERAL times in order to cover things that I didn't cover with the time I had. It seems like when I know I have more time, I waste it, then I end up rescheduling my test again. I think my husband is to the point where he just wants to go take it for me, & he's a Social Work major!

Anyway, I got the Kaplan QUestion Trainer CD from when I enrolled in the course. You may be able to get one from their website: http://www.kaptest.com

Then go to Explore, scroll down to NCLEX-Licensure; then click on U.S. Nursing School Graduates; then click on Bookstore; then on the left side of the next page, go down to NCLEX preparation & click on it, this will show you the materials that Kaplan has for purchase. Good luck.

Thanks so much for all the info! I think I'll look into getting them. Good luck to you too! :)
