Stars here's hoping for a quiet and dull day

Dianah I hope things cool down there soon

Ado I hope they accept her for respite care

NJ22 glad the vet gave them a clean bill of health

Tweety hope things weren't too crazy

Things were not too crazy at work, despite getting 2 new cases.  One was pretty easy, the other looks to me a more limited task so once I get some direction on it it should be easy too.

Rest of the day was pretty dull, just relaxed after work

Have another date this afternoon, we're going to go to the Taste of Chicago.  Haven't been there in a long time, understand it's smaller than it used to be

Will do some bird watching prior to then.  Will be unusually cool, only in the upper 60s

Good morning!

We used to have those "Taste of Pinelass" here that was a fundraiser when I moved here.  They were wildly popular with huge crowds, concerts and many restaurants participating.  Not sure why it stopped.  But we still have plenty of other festivals around here.

Waffles woke me up at 6AM to be fed and I went back to sleep until almost 10AM.  Must have needed some sleep after not sleeping all to well.

Not much to do today, just some chores.  I still have some meals prepped.  It's still Summer here and already 86 and will get up to 90.

Have a great day.

Hello all!

Tweety, glad you were able to sleep in (ahhhhhhh, what richness!!).

Joe, I guess we don't have any "Taste of --------" restaurants/eateries here, have never heard of them.  Enjoy!

No Stars, look for something to be delivered by 10pm tomorrow.

We are battling ants, who don't seem to enjoy the heat.  It looks like we are winning, so far.  It's a challenge to discourage them from coming in!

I couldn't sleep till after 3, but then got in 6 hours.  That's something.  Our heat wave looks like it will break to 99 on Tuesday, followed by the 80's the rest of the week into the weekend.  Yay!!

We will tune into Zoom Sabbath School soon.  May have lunch with friends, depends on if either of us is still sniffly.  Time will tell.

Have a good day!

Earthquake!  4.5, epicenter about 5 miles away.  I only felt it because I was sitting quietly.  No damage.  No worries.  We usually don't notice those below a 5 measurement.

Hoping my coffee and meds start making me wake up more completely, and soon! I haven't really been up very long. But, I DO really need to be mindful of the way I wake up......which is looking at the clock, groaning, and uttering a cuss word that references excrement. Not much of a good attitude with which to start the day.

Going to be about 84 degrees today, with a feels-like of 90 degrees and I don't know the humidity, nor the chance of rain, but I think it will be pretty much zero. The skies are blue and no clouds are visible. I don't know if it rained during the night (because they said it might) but I had turned on the dehumidifier and threw down a thick folded towel to absorb anything that might leak through the corner to the den floor....and the 'full' light is blinking, so I guess it took in a good bit of moisture. Was there somebody here that doesn't like the word 'moisture' or did I read that somewhere else? Anyway, I will turn the dehumidifier off and empty the collection chamber....one of these hours!

---------------------------------

Yes, dianah, I remember the activity quilts for both young children and the elderly. One lady in a nursing home where I worked was given a heap of face-clothes to fold, and when she was through, we thanked her, took away the neat stack....and tossed them all together (out of her field of vision), and gave them back to her to fold. Kept her busy!

I decided that Nannie is her very own "activity quilt". She is often so intent on making sure things are buttoned (or "un-") and trying to get the sleeves JUST RIGHT, then straightening her pant legs, and having to start all over again since the motion of her arms dislodged the perfection of the sleeves. She sometimes c/o her pants being 'too big', except that's the way the legs of the pants are made.....straight-legged and roomy. After all, it isn't very seemly for a 95 y.o. woman to wear skin-tight pants! It would actually be a riot to see that, but I know she wouldn't feel comfortable for very long.

Okay I must get to it and go get Nannie up for her morning routine. Blah. Don't think there is anything 'planned' for today. I hope NOTHING! Yesterday was quiet and dull, and I'm hoping for another one of those.

----------------------------------------

Later:   Nannie had dressed herself, in a blazer with an orange and green flowers and black leaves on a background of white....then on top of that blazer, she had put on a grey sweater with snowflakes and snowmen printed all over it. I guess she was thinking 'warm' instead of 'matching'! If she actually knew what she'd dressed herself in, she'd be horrified. I took the snowman sweater off and put on a jersey for her to wear under the blazer. The jersey only has 3/4 sleeves, but the blazer sleeves are l-o-n-g.  I wonder how much she will try to lengthen those jersey sleeves? Doesn't matter, it won't work, but maybe it will keep her busy.

The bed and pj bottoms were dry, because last night I remembered to put on her jumbo overnight pad. I didn't think she would accept wearing them, but she doesn't mind. They really are the very thing for keeping the rest of her and her bed linens DRY!

Nannie is intently watching the back yard and telling me "there are yellow things" out there. It actually is some leaves coming out of the trees, practicing for the fall season. I am hoping that her staring into the back yard will lead to heavy eyelids and thus to a nap. We'll see.

Nothing occurring in my brain that I might say, so it's a good time to end this post! Hope y'all's weekend is a good one.

We have Taste of _______ locally, and Seattle does a big one annually. It's usually done as a fundraiser. Attendees pay an admission fee, restaurants give out tastings. It's a way of introducing the public to what they have to offer. Or sometimes a restaurants with have a special menu for a reduced price. It's a big thing to foodies.

Temp in the 70s, feels like 81. I got another late start to my jog, did more walk than jog. Venturing out soon, to help youngest ds to look for a new bed, and I will get some paint supplies. Yesterday I harvested and steamed the cauliflower in the garden. It was pretty buggy, but the dogs don't care. I froze most of it and throw a few flowerets in their food.

We have had numerous little quakes around here, but I never seem to feel them. I didn't even notice the last bigger one that damaged the high school. I was in a building close to the train tracks, and a train went by and I thought the shaking was from the train. And then I noticed the light fixtures and the door was swinging. Derp.

We had ants earlier this year. A few ant traps seem to have taken care of them.

dh got an RSV shot yesterday and is complaining about how much his arm hurts. Honestly, when I got mine, it never hurt. He says he will not get health advice from me anymore. Actually, I try to avoid it, LOL.

Nannie slept for 3 hours, which is better than I expected. The last 45 minutes, she wasn't asleep, opened her eyes a few times, but closed them again immediately. She started getting crabby, frowning and trying to figure out what day it is, what time it is....so I very quickly told her it's Saturday, it's 5 PM..... And before she got to asking anything like 'are we going out anywhere?' I asked her if she's hungry, she said she was, so then I went up to the kitchen to make her a ham and cheese sandwich, potato chips, sweet tea (I forgot to put the cranberry juice in the fridge) and a big fat dessert of a slice of cake, 3/4's of a cup of fresh blueberries, and a small scoop of vanilla ice cream. That shut her up before she could frown about me saying I wasn't going to take her out anywhere!

SiL called and said that on Monday, "if it's okay with you...." ....she would come over to get Nannie up and showered, and take her for the afternoon. Yuh, like I was gonna tell her 'no'? HAH!

I am trying to decide which day of the week the iL's will have to find another CG for Nannie so I can have another day off. If nothing else I can start by going to the downtown library to sit down and journal without anyone interrupting me. I will also keep an eye out for some activity or meeting or group I don't get creeped out by..... I'm really not much of a group person. It is stressful for me to contemplate what I might go to over and over again. As far as a book club goes...nuh-uh. I prefer to read and not discuss, other than telling the librarian when I return a book, "Now this author is a HUMDINGER!" I have been choosing books that have the "So-and-so (one of the librarians) chose this book"....written on a cut-out star. That way, I find new authors but also avoid taking out  books by my favorite authors which I have read before.

PS: My room is STILL being kept NEAT 😊 as I am putting things away, instead of just tossing them down on a table, chair or on the floor, and I've also been making my bed. Now it feels peaceful to be in my room, with nothing nagging at me to pick it up.

Three hours until Nannie's bedtime! w00t!
