Hi Ado

NJ22 sounds like a nice place

Dianah glad things are cooling off and that you will get some rain

Stars here's hoping after Tuesday he can get into rehab and start taking care of his health better

Hi Tweety

Was a pretty quiet day at work, though some stuff to do at the end.  Offered to help others that last hour, but the boss said it was OK to leave early.  I waited about a half hour to see if anything came in then left

And finally got to meet J for dinner!  Hadn't seen him in 5-6 weeks, and we haven't done a Friday night in a very long time.  Was nice to meet him at our usual place

Talked to dad, it looks like he has found a new apartment.  It's a multistory with an elevator, covered parking, and washer/dryer in unit.  And no stairs in the apartment, unlike his current place.

Today have my usual bird watching, then will do some CEUs and get a haircut.  Might meet dad for lunch, right now he's doing some apartment related paperwork that might take longer than expected

Svengoolie has It Came From Outer Space, which is a somewhat smarter 50s scifi movie

Think it will be in the 80s again, rain should hold off until tomorrow

Good morning!

Joe, glad you got to meet up with J.

Off today.  Will head out for a walk outside soon.  It's still warm and muggy here and the rainy season.  Hope to make it to hot yoga soon.  I have four classes on my pass and since gas is down I'll use them up and decide if I want to continue to drive the new distance to the studio.  Tuesday it took me about 1/2 and hour which is less than I expected.

I decided not to go to my bowling team member's 60th birthday tomorrow.  We were thrown together by the league last year and really aren't friends.  I think he was being polite and I really don't like parties with people I don't know, although it was to be a small gathering at the Casino in Tampa by the pool.

Have a great day!

Yup, another morning here-abouts, cloudy and raining, I'd say in the low to mid- 70's. Don't know if it will clear or not, but that's okay by me.

So, Chapter 39:

Friday afternoon, at 1:45 PM, hubby said he was light-headed and felt 'funny', BP and Pulse were up, but he refused to go to the ER. // Friday @3:15 PM BP and pulse both reasonable but still not great // Friday @ 4:16 PM BP down , but pulse up // Saturday 4:10 AM, woke me up and c/o feeling hot (no fever) // Saturday at 4:50 AM, woke me up, c/o 'sweating', and BP WAY up and pulse also higher than any check previously. // Saturday @ 5:30 AM BP way up, pulse still high. Found his Lisinipril which he hadn't taken for several days as he thought he was waiting for a refill; took the Lisinipril 40 Mg. // 8:15 AM he woke me up vomiting. BP better but still kind of high-ish, BUT his pulse was up to 145... I said dammit, we are calling the ambulance, I don't want to go through this weekend waiting for the Tues appt! Just before the amb arrived, his BP was a bit high (particularly the diastolic), but pulse had come down to a reasonable 92. // When EMT got here, the guy asked hubby if he'd ever been told he had A-FIB. Neither of us knew that for sure.

So, he was off to see the Wizards of the ER (gawd, I hope so!)

I gave Nannie her breakfast and 'splained to her about his BP and Pulse being elevated and he'd awakened me several times during the night. I felt it would be better to have him go to the ER, than to wade through the next 3+ days with this problem continuing on. I was very calm as I explained it, so she took it well. I also told her that since I had been up and down most of the night, *I* was quite tired. Since she usually sleeps more after breakfast, I am ALSO going to sleep after her breakfast! Said I had the phone beside me, but that I didn't expect any phone call from hubby or the hospital for a good # of hours. Told her I'll be down later 1.) if I hear anything, or 2.) if it was time for her lunch.

And so, now. I rest!

This is probably a TBC story, so more later--------

Tweety is right, Mr. NoStars is a hot mess. Hopefully, they start detoxing right away!

I'm sorry Stars.  Hope you get some rest.  I hope Mr. Stars tells them about his drinking, although by now they might have figured that out if he withdraws.  Hope he's okay.

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to seem so callous, but from what NoStars has previously posted, the ED may send him home, tell him to follow up, and then he will forget, again. I really do hope he gets the help he needs.

it’s an overcast morning with a fair amount of smoke in the air. I’ve been sneezing, ds has red eyes.

Joe if that’s the movie I think it is, that gave me nightmares as a kid.

I hope Annie’ s flight is uneventful and that Dianah got some rain, but so much as to cause mudslides.

No Stars, I am relieved your dh is in the ER, but I agree with nursej22, they may give him a cursory exam and if they don't find what they think they are looking for, may discharge him (may not address the other issues).  Fingers crossed, though, that the important issue will be taken care of!  Enjoy your nap!

Joe, I recall seeing Plan 9 From Outer Space, which is labeled the WORST sci-fi movie ever made!  I thought of it when you mentioned the movie that Svengoolie is playing tonight.  ?  SO glad you were able to meet up with J!!  I'll bet it was nice!  //  Good your dad found an apartment that is acceptable.  Enjoy your weekend!  Birdwatching?

Tweety, I hear ya about parties, especially ones with ppl I don't know.  Will be interested to hear if you decide to continue yoga at the new location.  Enjoy your days off!!

Well it is not raining right now, but it is 70% chance of rain predicted today.  We will relax here at home.  Attend Zoom Sabbath School.  Maybe watch another episode of The Chosen.  Read.

Have a good day!

Yo!

Slept 4 more hours. Got up, made Nannie a sandwich. No word from hubby or ER. FYI- he was quite up-front about his alcohol intake and the plans doc had for him to rehab. Not only did he tell them, I had written up a list of his meds, hx of his acohol use, V/S for past 24 hours, other s/s (vomiting, dizziness.)

They very well may send him home, I have "no stars in my eyes' over ER's picking up on his care and admitting him. They may send him home, but I will be going to his Tuesday appt with him, if he does come home. Not going to let him 'forget' any appts anymore.

I'm still kinda stunned/tired, so I'm going to eat some PHO....because all of y'all have spoken well of it.

Prolly an update in a while....

Just after I posted the above, hubby called me. He said they are going to admit him because his BP and Pulse "are all over the place". He told the nurse he was hurting and she said "Well, there isn't anything we can do about that."  He told me, "I got news for her, somebody is going to do something about it!" Don't know what, though. He said he is also "covered with all these stickers and wires". Yup, that's observation!

So, TBC, I guess.

I figured they'd admit him for telemetry and new onset a-fib.  Hopefully the nurse was just saying that nothing was ordered for pain and will address his complaints of pain.  Hopefully the MD orders something good for withdrawal.

It would be a shame for him to detox and sent home to his own devices.

The issue is going to be what is the post discharge plan, especially since discharging to ETOH rehab isn't usually done from the hospital.  Maybe case management on Monday, if he's still there, can help, but they probably will throw it back in your hands.  Part of the problem is rehab is not the place for medically complex patients.  Now he has heart and blood pressure issues, on top of pain, on top of lung issues.  But hopefully he will be stable soon.

Anyway, I hope Mr. NoStars will be okay.  He's a hot mess.

Glad you got some rest.

3:30 PM - Hubby not thrilled: they are going to see what they can draw out from his left pleural sack.

Specializes in Med nurse in med-surg., float, HH, and PDN.

At about 6:30 PM, the ER DOC called me, said they were keeping him overnight because his BP and pulse are still all over the place. Also the person who would do the pleura-draining isn't working today, so it will be tomorrow before he will have the procedure. After we talked about his alc. intake hx., etc., and she said they would start Librium-taper today.

He called a while later to tell me what she had told him; it was the same as she told me.

Maybe they will get his v/s to level out, and continue him on the Librium-taper, and discharge him tomorrow afternoon (?) who knows.

Tweety, I appreciate you telling me a little more about the detox process and how they aren't set up for add'l illnesses in their patients; and saying they prolly won't discharge him TO a rehab center. Maybe that's what his PCP had in mind when he told us that he wanted to 'take care of the lung' problem first, before starting any detox in earnest.

Anyway, I am hoping that Nannie won't stay up past 10 PM. The ballgame starts at 9 PM; maybe she'll be sleepy by 10 PM. Anyway, once she trots off to bed, I can have some peace and quiet, because I am exhausted!

After Nannie and I ate supper, I cleaned up the kitchen, washed the dishes, put groceries away (I forgot to get her yogurts yesterday, so I went out for a few more items.) and cleaned out the refrigerator, dumped all the trash into the bin. Then I had to go across the street and catch up with the old guy, our obese neighbor ,who is going through his own tribulations, as his younger (and only living) brother is in hospice, close to 'the end'. I told him about hubby going to the hospital, then had to get back across the street to be 'in residence' for Nannie.

Maybe this will be my last update post this evening, I hope!

Thanks everyone, for your support. As my mother used to say, "You are good kids!" ❤️
