G'day!
Joe, enjoy your hike.
J22, that sounds like a nice class. I've never thought of going to a cooking class. Pretty much home schooled. Lately it's Pinterest.
Stars, I wonder if Nannie's insurance/medicare can get her a wheelchair if your doctor prescribes it for immobility. But the way things work you can't be able to walk a certain amount of feet before getting it authorized, but good thing your family has one to borrow. Best friend has one in storage for when he broke his hip.
I've probably cooked maybe four times for Thanksgiving in my life. Other times I've gone out (most of the time, including times when family visited me), or gone to someone's house. Once when I went to a friend's and they had vegan sides for me. I made a vegetable pot pie that when I said was vegan only one person ate. Lesson learned, never say the word vegan when serving a dish to meat eating people. The other time at my nieces and she catered the meal. This year we're going to a buffet at one of the beach resorts. They have sold out reservations but we got in early. I like not having to cook, clean up or have unhealthy leftovers. I am no longer vegan.
When I was home Raleigh was promoting their Christmas tree lighting and parade which I think is happening today. Is it my imagination have these things moved up on the calendars? Seems to me Christmas season was always after Thanksgiving.
Anyway, the trip is over and I'm home. For probably the first time out of ten trips nothing went wrong. The only minor glitch was on the way there the gate wasn't ready and we sat waiting on a plane to leave our gate for 10 minutes. But on a scale of 1 to 10 on issues I've had traveling it's a 0.1
Dogs were happy to see me and are content back home. The sitter said they were good except one time the blind-deaf one got lost in a part of the house he couldn't find his way out and woke them up barking.
Going to wash the car. I'm glad I waited because it got dirty in the economy parking lot while I was gone. Picked out of couple of recipes to make. A noodle dish and a bean dish. Missed yoga because I took a nap early around 10AM.
Another day, and more leaves on the ground. ?
I have GOT TO go pick up the refills at the pharmacy, and pick up a few items we always run out of before anything else. Maybe I should pay to go to Sam's and buy in bulk. Nah, just kidding; if a place wants me to pay to shop at their store they are....? barking up the wrong tree ? That's not too apt, but you get my drift. Anyway, I haven't decided if I will drag Nannie along or not, nor if I will pin my canine-corsage to my shoulder and head out. SIGH! It has to be done one way or another. I'll figure something out. Prolly "wear the corsage" and leave Nannie in the car.
Welp, nothing to it but to do it.
TMB, So glad to hear your wife's test showed up as BENIGN! YAY! (Whew!)
Hullo, everyone.
Tweety, glad the trip was uneventful, the folks are stable, and the dogs did well.
TMB, glad the news was good.
I've been both busy and lazy, if possible. Still trying to figure out my role in infection prevention. Asked the lab director for a tutorial on the new reports we're getting from the molecular urine testing and it just happened that he had the director from the send-out lab in the hospital that day. Other than trying to man-splain scientific notation to me ?he was very informative.
Made plans to go ahead and go to San Antonio for sis's surgery. I have a turkey breast to cook tomorrow and the guys and Gma can do leftovers Thursday. Twin A will be working that day anyway. Nephew says since they are in the middle of remodeling we'll probably go out to eat ... If sister doesn't feel like going out I will stay with her and let the others go.
Today I cooked chicken in the slow cooker with buffalo sauce, then shredded the chicken for sandwiches with coleslaw. Pretty tasty.
The hospital had a pumpkin decorating contest. I'll share a picture of Twin B's entry. I didn't do one.
Twin B's is the one with Lucy and Charlie Brown. The pig/piglets won.
I have to say, the pig-pumpkin with squash-babies was very clever!
Went out with my canine corsage and Nannie; we picked up what was needed.
Spent the evening watching HOUSE HUNTERS on HGTV. I swear, the couples we saw were rather annoying, especially the wives. I know they tell them on these shows that there have to be some disagreements so people will stay tuned to see which of the 3 houses the couples chose. But still, annoying. And funny, too, because one guy had 140 lizards and he had to have a space that was heated/cooled for his lizard collection. Another couple, the woman had two pet turtles she ALWAYS takes them on the road with her (she has a job that includes a lot of travel.) and she wanted a pond for the turtles. Then, another couple had: 2 dogs, a parrot, a skunk, a flying squirrel, and 6 alpacas. One of the guys was something like 6'6" and he had to duck through every doorway; they had to have him get in the showers to find out if any of the shower- heads were high enough for him to fit under.(they weren't, but he said he has short hair and doesn't mind ducking down to wash his hair.) Fascinating. ain't it? Well, it kept Nannie occupied, anyway.
CIAO, Y'ALL!
Tweety~ Sooooo true, and very funny; glad to see my reactions are shared by many. I, too, wanted to slap everybody. One couple's 'budget' was $3 million dollars!!
My 'budget' for rentals was always, "Can I afford the monthly rent?" and "How is it heated, and can I afford that?" I pretty much had to deal with whatever bathroom(s), kitchens, were there, regardless of the current 'trends' in design and colors. And to "curb appeal"------Ppfftt! More importantly, do the door and window locks keep the place safe?
There was a lot of whining about what they wanted and what they didn't like. Then, inevitably they'd end up buying the one they weren't especially fond of. Go figure!

Tweety hope the trip home proves trouble free
NJ22 sounds like he was a good person to learn from
Stars I'm glad that getting to the courtroom has been sorted out
TMB here's hoping the test results prove negative
Hi Crunch
Dianah I'll be making soup this weekend as well
Was a nice day. Started out with a hike as usual, then later I caught a train downtown to the Christmas market. Was a bit of a walk. Was surprised at how crowded it was after being open only 1 hour, and during the week as well. Lots of ornaments and other Christmas-related stuff being sold, and plenty of lines. Really liked some of the ornaments I saw, unfortunately I don't have a tree. Did get some spiced wine (gluhwein) along with some amaretto cashews and apple strudel. Don't think I've been there since 2010, and haven't taken the train downtown since before the pandemic
Rest of the day was fairly quiet. Did some vacuuming and exercised but otherwise it was a pretty quiet day
Today I'm headed out early for a hike again, going to try another new location. Might start a fish chowder recipe if I have time. In the afternoon I'm meeting the environmental group at a nearby prairie for some work. Svengoolie has Empire of the Ants, which I will check out
Will get up to the 50s today although currently it is below freezing
