G'day!
Joe, sorry you had a frustrating day.
Yesterday was frustrating for me as well. Had a couple of demanding patients who are known drug seekers. They come in and get a million dollar work up and ask for opiates over and over and ask to speak to the charge nurse, want to fire their nurses and doctors, it was draining. In both cases the docs clamped down and didn't give in. I even got the AMA threat and was unmoved and merely agreed that was an option they were free to take. I wanted to say "yes...please leave...sign here and bye". We did have another patient go AMA. Yesterday she cried in excruciating back pain for hours very loudly. When she went AMA she was walking around just fine as she pleased and most likely needed to get to her drugs (she came in positive for fentanyl, cocaine and amphetamines). I worry about our society, particularly in a time when programs to help them are being underfunded and eliminated.
Off today for four days. Nothing much going on. It's our Pride Weekend and I'll probably go tomorrow but won't go to the parade today. My employer always participates and has a float. I should have signed up to ride on it but didn't get around to it.
I heard from my sister via Facebook where she texted three of us. She said mom had a good day and was able to get a lot of her fluid off. She's fighting with dad about the accident he had and asking him to give up driving. Apparently, police deemed him at fault.
I got my car insurance and it's going up about $60 for six months. I guess that's not bad considered. But it's gone up nearly $400 in 2 years. Life in Florida.
Have a great day!
91 degrees with a 'feels like' 102 degrees. Possible rain or storm in the afternoon. It threatened yesterday, but then cleared up.
I woke up at 8 AM and took my meds, had 1/2 cup of coffee and a 'cinnamon wheel' and went back to sleep until 11:40 AM. I woke up in a ball of sweat, kinda shaky, and kinda nauseated. Took a Dramamine and came down to the den to find Nannie in her recliner at an angle like this> \ with her head tipping to her right side, and resting with her hand on her chin. She hasn't opened her eyes yet, but I don't think she is very deeply asleep. I am hoping the Dramamine takes hold shortly because I need to get up and get Nannie taken care of, but I don't feel like it. I just don't feel very good.
However, there is no rest for the weary here, so I better get to it.
Will prob. be back later----
Hello all!
Joe, I appreciate the review of the two Star Trek series. I, too, found Picard over the top, in many ways. Just not quite aligned with the spirit of the other Star Trek series(s). Didn't even watch the last season. I will someday. Sorry work was so crazy. But today is today!
Tweety, our bundled car and house insurance has REALLY gone up compared with a few years ago. I suppose it's a sign of the times we live in. But it is NOT pleasant. SMH over the drug-seeking patients Yes, leaving AMA is a strong option!
No Stars, I hope the Dramamine has kicked in by now. So sorry you aren't feeling well! I hope Nannie sleeps a lot today. The family must (possibly) consider that YOU may get sick, sometimes, and require relief?! Again, I hope the med does what is needed.
Have a good day!
Left SiL a text that Nannie is completely out of the #6 long poise pads. I had to use two of mine which are not as long or as absorbent as hers, and I am almost out, but they will do for her in a pinch. So, I get a text back that she has to go to work at 2:30 PM (it is now 12:55 PM) but she will bring some by TOMORROW. She said she hopes I feel better, and she would like to be able to take Nannie today, but her schedule doesn't allow that. Hmmmm, right. MY schedule, however, has ONLY to do with Nannie, for the most part. Color me thrilled.
I did get the dishes done, and another load of Nannie-laundry.
So far it has been a lovely afternoon: Sun, thunder, rain.... repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat! Nannie has slept so soundly and quietly for 4+ hours. I see her starting to move around a little bit...a twitch here, a squirm there, and lightly scratching her waistline.... I reckon she will wake up pretty soon, darn it. I am about to turn on the local news, and in an hour or so I'll have to give her some supper and her meds.
☺️And then it will be about 4 hours until her bedtime!😴
I got three loads of laundry done, since we arrived back home on Wednesday afternoon. Have been to the grocery store for salad fixin's, and we took oldest ds out to lunch on Thursday, to catch up and to deliver some bread we'd bought at Schat's Bakery on Tuesday in Bishop.
Today has been quiet. We watched Zoom Sabbath School, and ate lunch while watching some episodes of Season 5 of The Chosen, on Amazon Prime. I pre-ordered the DVD but apparently they are not shipping it for awhile, so we decided to take advantage of the show's availability on Prime.
I ordered from Amazon, and received on Friday, four hand towels and four bath towels. I specifically wanted ABSORBENT and QUICK-DRYING, for use in the RV. I have some old towels we use there, that are in good shape but I have always found them lacking in absorbency. I also though 'quick-drying' would be an added PLUS while camping! I need to wash them before tucking them in the RV, before we take it back to storage. Next trip will be in August!
Band practice yesterday went well, we are making good progress on the set list we have put together for our August program. It is exciting to work with our 'new' bass player, he is VERY talented, and really adds a lot to the ensemble and the arrangements!
It will be in the 90's most of the week, so we will hole up in the house, with the A/C on!
Have a good day!
Ugh. As the nursing admin on call this week I am filling in tonight in the ER. Definitely out of my comfort zone. It was full when I got here but now we are down to 1 patient.
I lazed around all day knowing I'd have to come here this evening and also I had a bad headache. It is mostly resolved now. Twin B should be here soon to start his shift.

Stars glad the plumbing work is close to being done
Ado glad it was at least not hot
Work was brutal, and it was worse for being intermittent. Started the day with another new case, and the person I was covering had a new case as well. Thankfully, my other coworker took the 2nd new case, so by lunchtime things were looking good. Then after lunch I got another new case. Was rather upset by all this, but managed to calm down and work steadily and get it all done. It was draining, and getting angry probably did not help. The absent coworker got yet another new case by the end of the day but it was too late to do anything about it
Rest of the day was quiet, exercised and relaxed. Started watching Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which I think I'll like better than Star Trek: Picard, which was too over the top for me
Today will try and get out birdwatching, will be heading into the city to meet my friend B and one of his friends. We're going to a coffee place that has a lot of board games an card games, should be interesting. Will have to drive and park as it's outside the downtown, which will complicate things a bit
Svengoolie has Frankentstein Meets the Space Monster, which is supposed to be pretty bad
Will be in the upper 80s today
