Stars glad you got a break from her today

NJ22 we had some flooding here too

Tweety hope the next shift is less busy

Dianah sounds like it was good day to stay in

Thankfully I was able to leave work early yesterday, as planned, although it was made more complicated by a new case I received.  After work use the extra time to run errands and drop by the library.  Exercised and working on a shopping list for next week.  Got a call from the minister asking me if I could serve another term on church council, was pleased that I was able to give a firm "no" rather than equivocate like I often do

This afternoon rather than lunch with dad will go out to lunch and indoor miniature golf with my friend N.  Was going to birdwatch but it's going to rain pretty much the whole day so I'll find something else to do instead.

Going to be rainy and colder today, upper 30s, think it may snow later

Good morning!

Joe, glad you got to enjoy your evening off early.

Ado, $55 seems like a good price for a long train ride.  I hope it went smoothly for you.

Stars, I think when the time comes you'll have to sell to an investor as a fixer upper "as is".

Same with me.  My house needs a new kitchen, and a lot of other work.  It devalues the house but if need be when/if the time comes I'll sell "as is".  Take it or leave it.  I have been hoping as time went on to fix it up myself.  I have remodeled the bathroom and hope to do the kitchen.  But life and big expenses get in the way.

FEMA has a new way of calculating flood insurance in that instead of zones they go by your individual address and the zone.  I just paid my flood insurance and it was $700 more than last year.  I put aside money based on last years cost and used $700 of emergency fund, which has been depleted by the dog and my medical issues.  Time was when I was younger and healthier I would work overtime to build up the savings account.

My sister sent the family an ominous text about my mother.  She fell and broke her wrist.  They had to call EMS lift team to get her off the floor as she is obese and dad is too frail and my sister couldn't do it.  My sister and dad declined to send her to the ER, which I would have done at least for splinting.  However, it sounds like they are moving towards no aggressive treatment for anything moving forward.  My sister feels this is "the beginning of the end" as her kidneys are end stage and she gets very short of breath with ambulation.  They want to keep her home as long as possible.  Dad and my sister though are stubborn and won't get help because my mother gets too agitated with strangers.  Anyway, they are open to hospice care when that time arrives.  My dad who is 100% alert and oriented understands what is going on.  They have pain medication for her.

I was planning a trip in May and still may plan that but I may have to go up sooner.  Unfortunately given my GI challenges I can't travel right now.  I've always had some guilt about being so far and having to work that I can't help.  Years ago we tried to talk them into moving here where we are but it's too late for that.

Thanks for listening.  Anyway, my life goes on.  It's "wash the sheets" day and like I said I hope to resume going to the gym.

And so the weekend is here once again. Laundry is on the slate, because I started the first of three loads yesterday and put it in the dryer, but did not turn the dryer on. GADS! So there is also a load in the washer that needs to be dried and folded, and then another load to be laundered and dried, etc. But at least the # of dishes in the kitchen sink to be washed is minimal. And I suppose I ought to get Nannie up and out of bed, dressed, fed, and medicated. And then what? Maybe she'll sleep some? Sure do hope so! If she doesn't 'conk out', I won't be able to disappear from the den and come back up to my room to TRY to un-clutter the room. When she doesn't sleep, or she wakes up and I'm not down there, she crawls out over the footrest of her recliner and comes up the stairs to see what is going on. Such is her 'memory' these days. So go my days.

Not a good day to go out.....right now it is 32 degrees and the high will be 35-37 degrees. It will be cooler this week, but I suppose that it will warm up again to the 70's during the next week. Mother Nature is practicing her yo-yo skills with the weather and temperatures.

We sold our Asheville house 'as is' and we ended up losing a LOT of money on it.....got ONLY just enough to move down here and that was IT. I need more than that if/when I move out because the worth of the house 'as is' probably isn't enough to squirrel away as retirement money. Hopefully the amount of property will boost up what would be paid, as it is a good, large yard in a good neighborhood. I would prefer to stay in the neighborhood, but like I said, Even though the house and property is paid for, I can't afford this house with the utilities and taxes, etc. So, I'll see what I see when I see it. I just don't want to end up living in a house where there are a lot of Rugrats and a bunch of the Screaming Mimi's next door. Right now, the only weird neighbor is the one who uses the leaf-blower EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. But that is not as annoying as some noisy, messy neighbors can be .

Once again, I must get up and be about....not MY business, but you-know-who's business. Ppfftt. Oh well, that's not being positive about things, except you know.... it is hard to be caring for all of Nannie's needs when I seldom get so few of my needs met.

Pitiful.

I don't know what state showed up on the weather report.... I only saw the degrees that said 32 and 35-37. So I bundled up in a warm, lined hoodie, and when I got outside it was a SHOCK.....very much warmer than the thirties. After I came back in I looked on- line again and this time the temps were 73-76 degrees! Weird. I don't think it was me reading it backwards, (73 = 37 ??) though. Sometimes I get odd cities I NEVER look for, and I don't know why they show up. Maybe Mother Nature and the laptop are playing tricks on me? Also it is lady-bug and stink-bug season; they are virtually  everywhere! And yesterday evening before I took Nannie into the bathroom to change, I saw a giant wolf spider resting on the inside of the toilet bowl. I flushed it away, and never said a thing to Nannie about it because sure enough, if I did, that would be the ONE thing she'd actually remember and she wouldn't want to sit on the commode anymore!

So I have one load of Nannie's clothes done, which she just loves to watch me fold: "That's pretty.", "Oh, I like that!",  "That one is really pretty."  (Uh-huh, uh-huh, yup it is)

B-O-R-I-N-G. And more to come! Wheeee.

Trying not to be critical of the hospital staff but I sure don't see them much. I did get to talk to the hospitalist when she came in. Apparently nephews need to choose a SNF before Monday. Sounds like they're leaving the stomach mass for outpatient follow-up?

Hi. We had a nice guided walk about bald eagles, along a river that is well known for its Winter eagle population. In the morning we saw about 9 eagles, many were taking turns feeding on a salmon on the bank of the river. We then walked along the river as the guide talked about the geology, history and wildlife in the area. As the day warmed , we saw 3 eagles soaring on thermal updrafts. We finished with a mile walk through some old growth forest of douglas fir, western cedar and big leaf maple. It was rather chilly, but we had enough breaks to go inside to warm up. We had an early dinner of hamburgers at a little roadside drive up that was great, or I was really hungry. We are spending another night here in an old historic lodge, and will take a leisurely drive home tomorrow.
