Ado glad things were quiet at home

Stars glad there were no arguments today

Hi Tweety

Dianah glad practice went well

Work was fairly quiet too, despite getting a new case and some last minute stuff

After work went to the potluck.  A bigger event than I had anticipated, with dozens of people.  Normally I like smaller gatherings,  but I made it work, and I did get to meet some new  people

Today I'll head out for bird watching as usual, then have lunch with dad as usual

Svengoolie has The Black Scorpion, which I think I've seen before, I'll give it a watch

Weather today pretty much the same, mid 80s with no rain expected

Good morning!

Insomnia stayed away until about 5:30 when I went ahead and fed the dogs and was able to fall back asleep and sleep until 8.  So for me that's a decent night's sleep.

I like smaller groups like my book club used to be.  Last large thing I went to was a birthday party of a friend in his brother's large house.  I came alone and being introverted didn't have a good time.  People knew each other and I stood alone, strolled around the house and spoke to the birthday boy a bit and went home after the cake.  Was very awkward and I'm too introverted to be outgoing and go up to strangers and interrupt so I felt invisible.  I think if I would have went with someone I would have had a better time.  My best friend is very outgoing (though he claims to be introverted) and he's fun to go to larger groups with, like when we travel with a large group.

Off today.  Not much going on.

I finally got $350 deposited in my account from work to reimburse me what I paid for my Med-Surg Certification.  I put it towards my credit card that I have a balance on because of my upcoming trip to see my parents.

Saturday again.

Last night, even after resorting to two crutches to walk, and icing like crazy, my left knee was still giving me a fit, so I was thinking of going to a doc on Monday. This morning, my knee felt a bit stiff (I had wrapped it up last night) but it occurred to me that maybe the Dr Scholl's arch supports I'd put in my new shoes weren't sufficient. I found the orthotics made by the podiatrist I'd worked for years ago, and put them back into my old shoes. It already feels somewhat better, so maybe the orthotics need to stay a permanent part of my daily gear. I used to swear by Dr Scholl's but now....

From using the (lower arm-band support) crutch(s), the fronts of my thighs and my hips are both singing an aching song, from going up and down stairs so, SO very  carefully... ie not my normal gait and stride. I am willing to bet that my knee starts feeling even better, after going back to these orthotics. I sure hope so anyway.

Like I told you yesterday that she was going to do, Nannie came out of the bedroom 3 times last night, after all her meds, "Do you want me to come out here now?"  Bright, perky, awake.....I swear she's like her son, enjoying her buzz too much to sleep. We told her to go back to bed each time, and thankfully, she did.

Today is a double-header with Braves vs Mets. First pitch isn't for thirty-five minutes; ordinarily I would get Nannie up now, but hubby says if she's sleeping well in her bed, why get her up to sleep in her recliner? I must admit that last night with just the two of us in the den, it was so nice; no tension for hubby to have over Nannie's presence. But I will have to get her up in a little while, so she can take her AM meds.

So, Tweety, I read that the newest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is actually pretty good, better than any previous ones, with enough humor that even adults would enjoy it. Are you planning on seeing it? Or give us a preview in your OPPS thread, anyway?

I know what y'all mean by being in a gathering of folks you don't know. One time I went to a party for a co-worker who was going to move to another state; it was thrown as a good-bye party by his (non-nursing) friends, and I was the only one from our agency who showed up; didn't know a soul except the co-worker. I stayed and smiled and nibbled foods, and then, after a half hour I said I had to leave. But I felt good that I had gone, though not terribly comfortable! Once he was having a weird time because of...I don't remember whatchacallit, but it had to do with his brain-stem slipping down into the spinal column...people were talking about the changes in his moods, etc, but I was the only one who approached him and said that he seemed to be more irritable and was he okay? He told me what it was and that there was going to be surgery to correct it. And after the surgery, I was the only one who called to check in with him. I used to have some of his patients when I worked all weekends. And sometimes during the week when his schedule was too packed to get in all his visits, I would do a visit or two for him, if he called me and asked me if I would. Ordinarily I would have not gone to the party, but come to find out, I was the only co-worker he had told about the party and specifically invited! And just before I left, he gave me a big hug and thanked me for noticing when things didn't seem right with him, and having the 'guts' to talk to him about it instead of gossiping behind his back.

So, that's the story of another halo I earned.

Ballgame is about to start; hubby has come down to sit in his recliner. I know he'd just as soon I NOT get Nannie up, but I'm going to have to, sooner or later. (*sigh*)

Ado, Nannie tells some real convoluted whopper-stories when she gets going. She mixes up younger life as a "cripple" and TV real-crime stories and even more stuff. And did you know she used to play on the ball team? She actually was trying to figure out a way to get a ride to Atlanta to help them out when a game threatened to go sour.

All for now-----

I have a bit more stuff to do at the office before flying out tomorrow so drove over. Thunder has been rumbling for a couple of hours but the deluge started during my drive so I'm sitting in the parking lot waiting for a break in the action.

It's a nice day here. I went for a little run, that I had to cut short due to pain in my knee. Im going to the doc on Tuesday and plan to discuss the knee and foot pain I seem to have daily. I did a little weeding and weed whacking, then got cleaned up to get ready to work in the Master Gardener booth at the local fair. Hopefully, tonight I can stay awake long enough to see the meteor shower tonight. Some amateur astronomers are bringing their high-power scopes to one of the parks so people can get a closer look.

I think we will have too much cloud cover to see any meteors. It's still rumbling outside and has rained on and off.

The power went out. I had a peach cobbler in the oven for the dinner at church tomorrow and was finishing up laundry and packing. The cobbler is probably a goner. And the things in the dryer were not quite dry. Could be worse, I guess. Did some packing by flashlight.
