Tweety glad the temps are at least moderate

Stars my cat likes to hover near the door, so I put one of those electrified mats in front of it to keep her from getting too close

Dianah I hope it was cooler for your jam

NJ22 I think our local JC Penny is still in business, though other long time department stores have closed

Ado sounds like a fun event

Hi TMB

Bird watching was a bit disappointing, not many birds but plenty of mosquitoes, an aggressive.  And had to wear a mask due to the very poor air quality

Rest of the day was better.  Ran some errands, went back to a Thai restaurant I had visited with the gay group, was very good.  Exercised and tried watching some opera again, this time Don Giovanni.  Realized while I like musicals I really don't like opera

Today is a pretty ordinary day.  Will likely skip bird watching, as I've already done that and the air quality is again very poor. Will do lunch with dad as usual, and exercise.  An will figure out what else to do today

Svengoolie has Earth Girls are Easy which I'll skip

Temperatures will be nice today, only up to 80

Hello all!

Joe, too bad you saw few birds and tons of mosquitoes!  That is NOT pleasant!  Interesting, I thought last week's Svengoolie was Earth Girls Are Easy.  The schedule for our west coast area is The Black Scorpion.  Doesn't matter, I usually don't watch horror flicks.  Enjoy your lunch with your dad!

We had a good time at Oak Glen, played for two hours along with the owner/manager and his fiddler.  They both also play mandolin and guitar, and have quite the repertoire of songs (they are used to entertaining!).  It was a lot of fun, and after we were done, we got to watch a demonstration of harnessing the two Belgian draft horses -- beautiful creatures, and it was interesting to watch.  The horses sure enjoyed being out on the grass, they were taking every opportunity to grab a mouthful of it!  The temperature was mid-80's, and there was often a breeze -- very pleasant out.

It will be a quiet weekend, unless something comes up that we want to do.  Temps will be in the mid-90's here.  Stay safe if you are dealing with the rain or any inclement weather!

Have a good day/evening!

Tinker did try to slip out one more time, but now when I put my hand on a doorknob, I turn and give her "THE LOOK" and say in a serious sounding voice, "Don't you even THINK about it!" and she backs up with an, "I'm not doing anything bad" look on her face. But I don't think she is cured from wanting to go out and run. Wish we had fences or a portion of fenced yard where she could run-run-run-run, because even though she was being bad, she was having such a gooooood time and enjoying it, especially when she FLEW with all 4 paws off the ground!

Last night we had a tropical deluge, like I mean, walls of water falling from the sky. This occurred right as I was getting Nannie out of the car and into the back door and into her recliner. Then I had to cover her with a huge bath-towel because she was COLD after we hit the air-conditioned air. Then, since I was wet all the way up from my toes to my knees, and also my shoulders, arms, and my back, I had to go upstairs and do a complete change of clothes. When I came back down to the den, I was dismayed to see that the passenger door was wide open and the car was still running! Soooooo I had to go back out and the amount of rain that had fallen within the approx 20 minutes we were out of the car was at least 2 inches....on top of what had already fallen, so puddles were ankle deep, and the wind was knocking branches and acorns onto the car. I got in the car, praying that no big falling branches would knock me out. I pulled it around to be under the carport, and came back inside soaked all over again, even though I did use an umbrella this time.

Now I have laundry of mine to wash. And yesterday I did NOT do laundry NOR dishes. We have officially used up alllll the teaspoons and the 'jelly-glasses' Nannie drinks from. Both sinks are heaped with dirty dishes, so I HAVE TO wash them! TODAY! ALMOST AS SOON AS NOW!

I am thankful that in nursing school, one of the ways we learned about positioning our patients was to take turns being the patient! It's different when you feel how it feels instead of just following the instructions from a drawing that shows it. As a result I have had years of compliments of how well I do, making someone comfortable in just about any (reasonable) position. And the reason I am telling you this now is.....I just adjusted Nannie's position in the recliner, and she is SOUND asleep! Good job, Stars!

So it is time to go put Nannie's laundry in the dryer and start mine in the washer. And THEN.......🥁 drum roll  please......💫💥 BANG! The dishes will get washed. Just not by magic, though.😩

16 teaspoons, 9 juice (jelly) drinking glasses, 8 saucers (these are what Tinker has her meals served on; we have no cups to go with them), 8 coffee mugs, 6 assorted size rubbermaid containers with lids (what SiL brings us meals in)..... and I did not count forks, knives, tablespoons, big serving spoons, nor sippy cups and lids, plus other odds and ends...... *****ALL WASHED!*****

Nannie's laundry in the dryer, mine in the washing machine. But I forgot to strip my bed and wash the sheets, but I can do that tomorrow.

Completely forgot about the crockpot meal I was going to start this morning! I can either start it on low when I go to bed, or get up early and throw it all together and start it then.

And my HAIR!! OMG! Because of the terrible humidity and the fact that I haven't washed my hair for 4 or 5 days, I have an extreme case of bed-head with a vigorous display of the frizzies ALL OVER, like I have NEVER had before.  Nowadays if something like that happens, I tell myself, "Well nobody here knows me anyway, so it doesn't matter." I remember the days when I washed my hair every morning and I would not go out in public unless I had "DONE" my hair and make-up. Now I just make sure my t-shirt or Henley shirts are clean and without grease stains,  and say Ppfftt! if nobody likes it. I don't pay attention whether they do or not, but I do notice stains on other people's shirts. And I keep saying I need a waterproof adult size bib! But do I have one? NO! And do I remember to spread a towel on my chest like I do with Nannie? NO!

At least I got all the trash out Thursday night and it was collected on Friday, so that is SOMETHING, anyway! And I am patting my own back for getting done what I did do today while the Nannie-person is has been napping.

The next thing is folding dried clothes and trying to figure out what to serve Nannie for her supper, And, of course I have to say this: 4 hours until I put her to bed!

Beautiful day here and Hubs and I are relaxing at the table outside.

I've been reading Hidden Valley Road, a nonfiction book about a family with 12 children: 10 boys then 2 girls. Six of the boys developed schizophrenia.

Wow, what a turbulent family development!  Was there a previous family history?

It has been a pleasant day here, as well. youngest ds and I walked to breakfast and back (1 1/2 miles each way) and my heel is really sore. I am trying to stay active but it's a challenge to balance activity and pain. I finally got some laundry done.

dh made a blueberry coffee cake. It was a little flat ( I cautioned him not to over mix but he insisted on using the electric mixer. It brought back memories of Home Ec class and the teacher lecturing us about the tunnels that form in muffins if they are over-mixed. So weird that was important at the time, LOL.

I did a little weed pulling, watering. I made a donation to PBS, so now I can watch PBS Passport, and I started watching Masterpiece's Miss Austen. I didn't sleep well last night, so I hope to turn in early tonight. We had tacos for dinner last night and the spicy  guacamole produced some painful GERD.
