50-60 SATA questions on NCLEX??

Nursing Students NCLEX

Ok, my whole body is shaking right now. I'm in my car outside the testing center. I'm too overwhelmed to drive; it wouldn't be safe!

I had my appointment at 3:45pm but arrived at 3pm. Once I checked in and started my exam it was almost 3:30pm.

So the computer screen shuts off at 75 questions, and I just freeze. My chest feels tight and I'm SOB. I sit there for what seems an eternity before I finally raise my hand to signal that I was done.

Am I supposed to feel like I failed it big time?? I did not feel confident with most of my answers. And to top it off, I'm pretty sure that I had over 50 select all that apply questions. I didn't think that was possible! Well, of course it's possible. I just didn't expect it.

I tried taking my time with the questions, but I was still out of there in just over an hour. I don't think I could go through this again. & now to wait the 48 hours or attempt the dreaded pvt...

This is such a bizarre feeling that I don't think anybody could understand unless you've gone through it yourself-Feeling relieved that it's over with but at the same time there's an overwhelming fear that it was all for nothing.

This may be my first post.. And although I'm not expecting replies, it was good to vent. I love AN.

I think I can drive home now. :)

Mine shut off at the minimum and I had over 30 select all. I passed!

I passed Monica

I think having that many SATA is a good thing! It just means you were well above the competency line.

Not to worry the OP, but it bears mentioning that getting SATA questions or not getting SATA questions has NO bearing, zero, on how you're doing.

SATA is merely an alternative format of question. They can be above the passing standard or below it. People can have a ton of SATA questions and fail miserably. They can have only one SATA question and pass easily. And everything in between. One of the greatest myths out there on NCLEX is that having lots of SATA formatted questions means....anything at all.

As for the PVT: please read the other threads on this, and even if it seems self-promoting, please read MY thread on it with the FAQ logo ;)

To the OP: the biggest indicator of how you did is the fact that you got the minimum number of questions and completed the exam. This DOES mean you either were doing very well and could prove competency quickly......or.....you were doing very poorly and there was no way, nohow you were going to pass that exam.

Given your student habits, grades received, prep for the NCLEX....which scenario is more likely? Now remember that approximately 90% of all US educated students pass on their first attempt..NOW how do you think you did? :)

I just took the NCLEX this morning, and I feel like well over half of my test was SATA. I had 3 drag and drop, 1 calculation, and the rest multiple choice, which didnt feel like very many, and my test stopped at 75 questions. I honestly have no idea how to feel... it seems so crazy! I only slept for about an hour last night, as I was too anxious about the test to sleep, and now I can't remember hardly at all what the questions were like, and it seems like a blur. Keeping my fingers crossed that I passed :) I hope you did too!

Well, I wouldn't say "patiently" waiting... Lol Honestly, I wish I could sleep straight through until Thursday to check my quick results.

But yes, you're right-$200 is a lot of money in my book.

You're lucky - California doesn't participate in quick results...

Never understood why people in states that have quickresults still freak out when they will have some semblance of their status in 48-72, whereas in CA we wait till the "wonderful people" of Sacramento come off of a break and slowly upload the information... lol

Anybody here who passed at 75 having easy questions? I know they're at easy level coz they're just actually testing your content and memory. I dont think I got them all right esp on SATA. I cant believe I did so bad that it had to shut off at 75.. =( i dont know what to do now. This is my 2nd time. I still dont know the result. Just took it yesterday. I cant sleep and I feel so depressed right now...

I got 12-15 SATA, 3 drag and drop that were really basic, 5 drugs, 2 questions with exhibit, mixed multiple choice but only half were average level question. I can't say I got the easy questions right coz I have reviewed for 3 mos focusing on higher level of question... I didnt actually cry after the test. Im not that kind. But for now I feel like Im really frustrated. Did I do really bad for me to just reach 75th? I dont know anyone who passed at 75 having easy questions.. This is terrible.. I have to face the result tomorrow. I hoping a miracle will happen.

Im sure you did fine :(). Stay positive!

I meant :)

this is the longest 48hrs of my life. at first i thought i did fine but when i realized i had a lot of content and memory questions. i doubted myself. i hope ure ryt.. tomorow ill have to face the truth . waaaah

I tested yesterday and feel the same way! I don't think we can understand the anxiety of waiting for the results until we are in the situation ourselves. Mine shut off at 75 and had almost 30 SATA.

Exactly! So how do you think you did?

Everyone feels bad after the NCLEX. Keep checking your state's BON website, it may post there before you can even pay for quick results!

That's what I'm hoping for! I believe the Texas BON posts results/licenses on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I will be checking first thing tomorrow!
