SARS in Texas?

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Nine people at Dyess Air Force Base in Texas have been quarantined in their homes for possible SARS infection, according to a spokesman for the base near Abilene.

That would be scarey. I've been afraid it's only a matter of time before it hits the US.

But people being quarantined in the US is not new is it?

Only one person has any resp symptoms and that it is mild. Chances are he does not have SARS. he ONLY PASSED though the airport in Toronto. My wife and kids passed through the airport in Hong Kong twice in the last month. They did catch a cold aftetrwards but it was from the lack of air circulation on the airplane than SARS. (they are over it already) The other people that were quarantined had contact with this person. They were quarantined to watch them. Also the Military takes outbreaks of possible infectious disease VERY seriously. They do not want anything that could jepordize the misson happening that they can't control..If it takes quarantining some one they will do it in a heartbeat.

The way to control the spread of a disease is quarantine....

I am so glad they are being cautious. It is so much better than having the worse happen. Take the Space Shuttle for instance.
