sanfran hourly rate?

U.S.A. California

Hi, i am a CCU/SICU RN in san diego with 3 years experience and CCRN certification. i am wondering if anyone knows how much, per hour, i would make in san francisco(night shift)? the hourly rates in san diego are not spectacular and i am only making about $37/hour. i want to move to sanfran, but with the cost of living increase, i am hoping to make around $50/hr. is this realistic?

you will easily make over 50/hr..i've been an RN for 4+ years and make around 56 straight pay plus diff. You can check out the ucsf site and their pay rates are public. I'm considering moving to SD for the weather and surf. Where would I make the most money down there, scripps, ucsd, or sharp? thanks and good luck.

New grad on night shift would make about $50/hr, and experienced nurse would be paid more. The base pay varies slightly from facility to facility. Some hospitals pay a flat rate shift differential others pay a percentage.

50 or more per hour is pretty standard here, but finding a job in San Francisco right now is really difficult even for experienced nurses. My ICU just hired someone for evening shift (first outside hire in three years), but he started as a traveler. Maybe working as a traveler in SF would be the best way to get your foot in the door?

Coming from a midwest perspective... WOW. I'm not making anywhere near that amount of money. The cost of living differences must be ridiculous.

It may be realistic but I've heard they are pretty saturated with nurses already so unless you have a reliable job in hand I wouldn't make the jump.

wow, took me 4 months to get back to this site, lol.thanks everyone i decided to stay in SD until the market improves in SF(wasn't having a lot of luck with applications)

i think one poster asked about the best ICU's to work for in san diego? Scripps(memorial, mercy, green) or Sharp(any) both pay about the same; UCSD, like a dollar or two more(but you have to pay for parking!). Kaiser pays very well, but you have to deal with a lot of Kaiser-BS( i think they call that the "Kaiser Golden Handcuffs")
