San Jose State, SJSU, 2010 Fall

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello,

I turned in my application for 2010 fall, and I'm wondering if anyone applied to this fall too.

I heard this time they have alot more applicants than the previous fall, and most of the applicants

have pretty high scores.

my last 45 quarter gpa is 3.87 , 5 pre-req 3.955, and teas 87.9, but I'm still freaking out right now wheather im able to make it . im curious

if anyone is in the same position? thanks.

I don't know exactly how they calculate it. On my own calculation, I think I have a 10.22:crying2:.

But I planned for this. I'll still transfer in the fall and get the other GE classes out of the way. I should ace those and raise my score.

The way they calculate it is that each portion is worth a max of 4.0 (last 30 units GPA, 5 Prereq GPA, and TEAS). For the TEAS you just take your score and divide by 25. So the highest possible impaction score is a 12.0.

Right, but I'm not sure how they account for weight. Is a B+ in a 6 unit class worth more than an A- in a 4 unit class? Instead of separate anatomy and physiology classes, I took 3 quarters of A&P, so how did they average it out?

Just grasping at straws, here.

Hrmmm that is interesting. You should use a GPA calculator... because classes are definitely weighted depending on the number of units. I'm not exactly sure about Quarter system credits. Are there 3 classes required to complete the A&P section, or were they repeats? They might take all grades into consideration. how did you fill out the packet? did you put all 3 classes under both A and P?

here's a link that might help.

You should have spoken with Dr. Malloy she's very nice, and very informative. I must have came to see her 3 or 4 times. Every time I came in, she would ask me for my name and said "oh good, I'll keep a look out for your packet"

Thanks! I'm just going to drive myself crazy with this. I've used three different calculators, converted my quarter units to semester units, etc. and I've gotten 3 different answers.

But 2 of them were 10.3x, so that's cool. Just a few more days and this madness will be over with..

Oh, and since it was A&P, it was a 3-class series. No repeats.

Well, the letter came yesterday. I'm an alternate with about 6 or 7 others.

Here's to hoping a bunch of people decline admission:uhoh3:

I'm so happy for those who were able to apply to the nursing program. I'm an incoming sophmore this year (Fall 2010) and I'm just so worried for my future at San Jose State. The prerequisite science classes I need to take (Anatomy, Micro...etc) are all so full. I can't even get a seat. I'm just so worried, because at this rate, it'll talk longer for me apply to the nursing program and even longer to to graduate. So far... my GPA for freshman year was a 3.5 (not accounting for the poor grades I received from a community college *ahem* Evergreen College). I'm just so worried!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, good luck to those who have been accepted! I wish you the best of success.

Hello SJSU students....

I have my application all ready to bring down to SJSU. I finally received my admission letter from SJSU, so now I can officially apply to their nursing program. I have a pretty competative impaction score, but the part I am nervous about is the deadlines and application requirements.

Do you have any suggestions on what to do next? I have registered for SJSU transfer orientation, but now this is all getting so REAL....
