San Jose State, SJSU, 2010 Fall

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello,

I turned in my application for 2010 fall, and I'm wondering if anyone applied to this fall too.

I heard this time they have alot more applicants than the previous fall, and most of the applicants

have pretty high scores.

my last 45 quarter gpa is 3.87 , 5 pre-req 3.955, and teas 87.9, but I'm still freaking out right now wheather im able to make it . im curious

if anyone is in the same position? thanks.

I definitely don't think you should worry.... your impaction score is around an 11.35 that's really good. I'm sure you'll make it in.

I on the other hand... am really really really nervous. I have a 10.6 impaction score and I'm keeping my fingers crossed till I get my results. I'm actually having nightmares about it.... did they tell you that you'll get your results around May 17th?

But good luck to you! I hope you get in :)

Ugh! I'm going crazy with this waiting. My score is lower than both of yours at 10.2x, but higher than the last cutoff.

I hope we all get in!

Hey Everybody!!

Has anyone heard back for the Fall 2010 nursing program yet? I wasn't able to apply this semester because I hadn't taken the WST, but I am planning on attending the university in the Fall and applying to the nursing program for the Spring semester.

For those of you who have been accepted, can you please let me know what your GPA/TEAS score or impaction score was.

Thank You so much and good luck to you all!!!

Does SJSU look only at impaction score for acceptance? If so what's a comfortable range to be at to be accepted?

Thank you!

Yes, only the impaction score matters for admission. The lowest score for admission to spring '10 (the most recent go-round) was 10.18, so you'd want something at least higher than that - but it ultimately depends on the applicant pool, so we can't say what it'll be from one semester to the next.

If all pre-nursing students were to band together and agree to all slack off, it'd be easier for all of us to get into the programs we want. :jester:

SJSU goes purely on impaction doesn't it? Or at least that's what I heard.

@Birry where did you hear that the lowest score they took in was 10.18? every time I ask, they always tell me "oh well it depends" haha. A guy in my class got into the program last fall and he said that the his friend has a 9. something and got in... but I'm assuming since they weren't taking spring admissions into the school, the transferees with fantastic grades are flooding into the program.

Good for them... sucks for me :(

But my friend did say that they start mailing out the letters at the end of April... so hopefully we'll be getting the letters soon! because waiting is such torture!

it's on the website, either in the info packet or the advising slides. i asked if they had info on the last several admission cycles so i could try to see the trend, but they just told me to fuhggedaboudit.

i've been checking the mailbox like i've got ocd this week... it's only going to get worse over the next ten days!

how many get accepted each

semester to nursing?

[color=#cd0000][color=#cd0000][color=#cd0000]

out of ~ 80-100 completed applications, we

now select 60 twice a yr., for allotted spots

[color=#cd0000][color=#cd0000][color=#cd0000]

selection based on "impaction score" only

[no letters of reference or other factors are

considered.]

[color=#cd0000][color=#cd0000][color=#cd0000]

most of spr '10 pool applicants who were

admitted to the major had gpa of at least

3.25 or >; currently gpa has been

increasing to ~ 3.22-3.25 ( however, we

use an impaction score -not gpa); impaction

scoring cutoffs are approximately 10.18

recently (emphasis added - birry)

Hey Everybody!

I wasn't able to apply for the Fall because I hadn't taken the WST so I'm planning on applying for the Spring. I went to a nursing advising session at SJSU yesterday to see if they had any info I hadn't already heard.

She said the impaction cutoff for Spring 2010 was 10.18 and the cutoff for Fall 2010 looks like it's going to be 10.27...so if any of you are around 10.27 or above you are probably in!!! She also said they are going to be sending out letters this upcoming week!

Excuse me while I go cry myself to sleep.

Excuse me while I go cry myself to sleep.

Birry -

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to disappoint you :( In previous posts it looks like you have an impaction score of 10.2+, is that correct? If that is so I think you have a really good chance of getting in! Also, this is just what the woman said this cohorts impaction score "looks like" it's going to be, so it's not official!

Keep your hopes up! You will know one way or the other soon!

SCNurse87 - thank you so much for the information! really really appreciate it~

Birry - Don't give up hope yet!!!!! I still have my fingers crossed for all of us!
