San Joaquin Delta College Fall 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everybody, I decided to make a thread for everyone applying to SJDC's nursing program for the Fall 2017 semester. This is a good space to collaborate and share information, exchange scores, etc etc

The application was supposed to open "the first week of February", and today is the 7th but there is still no application or update of any kind on the site. Does anybody have any information about this? I'm getting anxious checking every day and I just want to apply already!

Have any of you confirmed your spot yet? I have already (twice) but when I go to evaluations, it still asks me to submit a decision. Is anyone else seeing the same thing?

I noticed the same when confirming my spot. If I log in again it still asks to confirm or reject.

Where did you get botifed by email

I wasn't notified by email yet. Haven't received information packet yet. Login the same location where you applied and you should now be able to see the final decision. Good luck! and my TEAS score was 88

Such amazing Teas scores!!! I sadly got a 73 on my test :(

Also I received my confirmation email for acceptance on the 20th

Newbie here !

Congrats to all that got in !

I just wanted to see how long did it take to complete the prerequisites and what was the order of which you took them ? Were you able to apply right away after completing the prereq's or did you have to wait ? Sorry for the rant I just have a bunch of questions that I can't seem to get past .

Hello!

I figured I'd give my best shot at answering your questions. I had already been attending Delta for awhile before I decided to reroute and pursue nursing. That being said, I had already completed the english and math requirement several semesters before I started focusing on the program's prerequisites. It took me personally a year to complete the others. Spring 2016 I took anatomy. Over the summer of '16, I took both medical terminology and nutrition online. Fall 2016 I took both Physiology and Intro to Med Microbiology (fave class ever), as well as Human development online. I would not suggest overloading your semesters like I did last fall, but I had a timeline in mind and knew I wanted to be in the position to apply by February 2017.

I think Anatomy and Human development could be easily managed together. Taking both physiology and microbio together was very difficult, but if I was able to pull it off, then I'm confident anyone could, assuming you're diligent.

Because I had completed all the prereq's by Dec 2016, I was able to apply as soon as the application opened in March.

If you're thinking of taking your prereq's at delta, I would highly suggest taking Dr. Itaya for Human Physiology. That man was infinitely willing to help us students, and had unwavering patience. There were many saturdays he made himself available for extra study sessions, and my lab partners and I took full advantage.

But you still earned your spot!

Thank you so much ! You don't even know how incredibly helpful that was. I haven't started classes yet but I am enrolled in Math92G and Human development for this summer. I'm not sure what to expect as far as the load of work but I want to more or less plan out the order of prerequisites I have to take to be able to finish within a year as well .

If you don't mind me asking did you take classes this Spring while waiting to begin the ADN program in the Fall ?

I'm glad I could help!

I did enroll in an online stats class this spring while I was waiting for the application to open up. I anticipated taking classes up until I got accepted into the program, even if they were just fun electives, to stay in the swing of school. Unfortunately I didn't do so well in the stats class and will have to plan to retake it at some point, since I believe it is a requirement for most BSN bridge programs (which is my next goal).

Hi there!

I had my math requirement fulfilled before I decided to pursue nursing.

I took anatomy and english with two other classes in Fall 2015. I took Micro with three other classes in Spring 2016. I took nutrition and chemistry (to review before physio) in Summer 2016. Finally, I took physio along with another class in Fall 2016.

I applied in Spring 2017 (which was the soonest I could apply). I did take four classes this semester so that I would have my transfer classes out of the way.

I would highly recommend taking Dr. Guzman for anatomy (if she is still teaching), Dr. Bender for micro, and DR. ADAMSON for physio. He was honestly the most amazing professor I have ever had. Good luck!

I really enjoyed Dr. Bender for Micro as well!
