Hi friends, my name is John. I'm new here and wanted to start a thread for those applying for the Fall 2014 admission at SJDC. I've read similar threads about past classes and found them interesting and informative.
I just finished up Physiology (still nervously waiting for my grade) and I'll be taking the TEAS at Modesto JC on 12/20. After that I'll be putting together my application!
I just noticed on Delta's ADN site that the TEAS will be offered at the Stockton campus the second week of January. Still no information on when the actual application period is going to be.
Anybody else want to share any thoughts, concerns, rumors, or advice?
My drug test, and background check are both completed and resulted in my profile. By the way if anyone lives in Tracy you can take the drug test on the location off of 11th, they are form fox enabled as required. I have scheduled my physical as well. Remember that the 2 step TB and Hep B test are not to be done no earlier than 60 days prior to the program start date, all other immunizations/ immunization verifications can be done now. I called the health sciences department to verify this as well:) I've actually called a few times for different verificatoins. I dont want to lose my spot for a simple error on my part:no:
Thanks for confirming MirnaMarlene. So, since I was informed by my first choices that I did not get in, I'll be attending Delta :) So far, I completed my background check. I just got my drug test done today. Just awaiting results. I also just scheduled my appointment for my cpr certification. That's how far I've gotten. I've also planned out my shots, noting that we are required to take two MMR, 28 days apart from each other and if taking a ppd skin test, has to be the same day or at least 30 days after for it to be valid (with the 2nd ppd skin test being no more than 60 days before entrance into the program). Sounds like alot of work!
You are welcome Yerlo09! I am so confused with all of these vaccinations. To be sure the only ones that can be done now are the Varicella, TDaP, and Hep C??? I am going to call Monday to schedule an appointment with my physician and get whatever I can get done out of the way. The MMR, TB screening, and Hep B are the ones that can't be more that 60 days prior to clinical date (August 19)??
Hey guys! My name is Helen and I found out I got accepted too. I'm also waiting to see if I got accepted to any of the other nursing programs I've applied to. Is anyone else also waiting? I'm wondering how strict the deadline is to sign up for the background/drug testing by 4/22/14. I'm hoping I could wait until after I get a response from the other schools. Otherwise I have to pay the $87 upfront by 4/22/14. Think I could wait it out? I mean the test results aren't due until July, just that sign up deadline is 4/22/14. What do you guys think?
Hi purpleorchid I'm the same situation having applied to several other schools. I am waiting to hear from 1 more school in my area which will take awhile since application deadline just passed but I've decided to go ahead and do the drug/background in case I didn't get in anywhere else. So the $87 is pretty much a deposit for my spot in the program at Delta well at least that's how I think of it haha (:

We're actually required to take two tb (if we haven't had one administered within the past 12 months of the first day of clinical and the 2nd one 60 days within clinical) and two mmr (with 28 days between each and the 2nd one being 60 days within the first day of clinical). As for the varicella and hep c, we need titers done to show if we have antibodies to it. Tdap can be done right now. As for the Hep B, on page 23 of our packets in notes, it says that hep b requires 3 vaccinations, with intervals at 0, 30, and 240 days (0,1, and 6 months). It'd be impossible to have all 3 shots done when clinical is here which is why they have the waiver form. It just requires one to be done prior to clinical and pick up according to the months. A tb has to be placed on the same day as the mmr for it to be considered valid. So I would plan to get the the mmr and tb at the same time. If for any reason I am wrong, please anyone correct me. But this is what I got from reading the packet.
Okay, so I emailed ------------- about the immunizations and this is what she wrote:
Hep B and C screening needs to be no more than 60 days before if going to Dameron. Since we don't know what location you will get, please don't do your Hep C titer until after June 19th. If you are in process of your Hep B vaccines, make sure to upload the Hep B Waiver form along with your vaccines done to date. Yes, the two step needs to be within 60 day of starting school unless you already have a current TB then just make sure the second one is within the 60 days.
I just wished they clarified it on the packet! so, these are the only ones that must be done 60 days prior to clinical. I would suggest doing the mmr with the tb. hope that helps!
Thanks yerlo09 and mirnamarlene for your clarifications. I have also emailed --------------- with my own personal questions, as this seems to be a little bit more complicated than I originally thought. No worries though, I will do one step at a time. I got my login and password for e-value today so everyone check their emails. I logged in and browsed the website. The email didn't really come with instructions by I navigated through it just fine. I was going to upload my background results and drug test results since those are really the only ones completed, oh and my CPR certificate. I have a question for your guys though. When you printed out or viewed the results summary for your background check, was there any place that actually indicated pass or fail? My just has status completed for all sections and indicated no records found. I know I'm good since I dont have a criminal record, but just curious. Thanks.
Thanks yerlo09 and ch76 for the clarifications, when I called I was told that I could get the vericella TDaP and MMR....and to wait on Hepc Hep B and TB...I am going to call again and confirm lol. ch 76 I saw the email last night. For the drug test mines says negative under result status but the background check just says status completed..it doesn't really give a pass or fail..so I am not sure on that. I have my CPR class this Sunday, after that I will be going to campus on Monday and asking all of my questions regarding what I should upload.
