Well I just decided that I'm going to apply to San Jac. I was planning on just applying to College of the Mainland but since I surprisingly received an A in statistics I think I'll give San Jac a shot. I'm going to apply using option B. I have 2 A's and a B so I'm not really sure if I have a chance. My prereq Gpa is 3.75 and my overall Gpa is a mere 3.06. Which option are you planning on using. I've decided to apply to San Jac because of the hybrid evening program. I've always taken evening classes and feel like I'm a better learner that way.
I am also going with option B. I have 2 A's (Anatomy, English) and 1 B (Math). My pre-requesite GPA is 3.7 but my overall GPA is a 3.25. I took the ACT so if I score greater than a 25, then I will also put option A. They said you can put both options. I think we do have a shot! I have spoken to some students in the RN program that also had 2 A's and 1 B and they got in. It all depend on how many people apply and how good there scores and grades are. There is only 100 slots open so cross your fingers! I heard they only have 35 slots for the hybrid program, so good luck! :-)
Thanks that's useful information. Did you ever go to an information session? I hope that's not mandatory because I never attended one. I emailed the nursing director to ask a few questions, once I get a response I will do the background and drug test. Have you done those yet? If so, do you know if they can be used at other colleges? I'll be working on the San Jac application all day and will hopefully submit it by the end of the week.
I did go to the nursing information session and it was very helpful. However, if you go to the San Jac website and search nursing, all the information will be there along with the ADN application and some other forms you need to sign. I did my background check and drug test early last week. It takes approximately 48 hours for them to send the information directly to the school. Not sure on if it can be used for other schools as they all have their different guidelines. Good luck with your submission. :-)
The information session is not mandatory, I never attended and I am currently going into my 3rd semester at San Jac. I think you both have a good shot at getting into the program, those were the grades that I had when I got in. It does depend on how many applicants they have too though but I wouldn't get discouraged although San Jac does wait until the last minute to send their emails out. Just apply everywhere but I wouldn't take the extra classes that each school requires to get into the program. I really like the program but it is very time consuming. If you have any questions just ask I am available until June 7th when the summer semester starts up. Best of Luck to you!
Hello everyone..
Glad to be here in this forum. Just applied to San jac in May. I have taken all my pre-reqs, still applied under option-B..since i have a 4.0 then. Not saying chances are greater, but just for the hope of it. Has anyone received any emails saying the school has received the application forms or does that happen only after June 1? Good luck to everyone!
Hi Skygyrl,
Thats exactly what I read too (fall 2009). So I guess we will wait for it . I did read that students were on their toes waiting for an acceptance..coz some came in just a week before classes started and thats really difficult to process. Anyways just a little patience will go a long way.
Thanks.
