San Jacinto 2017 applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Hello everyone and congratulations on your success so far! I have a question. I am applying for ADN with a 3.2 GPA, 86 HESI, and unfortunately a 13/30 points score (due to retakes). I am feeling extremely discouraged and was wondering if anyone knew of anyone (even if it was you) who got accepted with that kind of point scaling? Thanks in advance.

I'm missing 1 prereq, & my score is a 21 without it.

mine is only 12... ): I am feeling prettyyyyy discouraged as well. My goal was to a apply for a BSN but my gpa was not good enough.

I had 15 :/ and feel discourage but I'm still applying. And hoping for the best. Anyone know the ratio of applicants vs people accepted??

I heard they get around 200 and only accept 90-100 ppl.

The background checks are done through identigo after acceptance as either an alternate or full acceptance. Same with the immunizations. They accept 85 ppl. Don't be discouraged by the rubric score. They will be lower now that they've excluded college algebra as a pre req.

Background checks are done after you're accepted and acceptance is contingent on clear checks. There's no vaccine for Hep C but you do have to submit a negative titer showing you do not have the virus. Castlebranch and the San Jac website say titers/vaccines must have been completed by application deadline, but I too have had correspondence with program admins stating this just needs to happen before the start of the program. I'm just frustrated that the curriculum isn't up. They pulled it a few months ago after redoing it just this year already and I would have liked to know what my class load was going to look like before I applied. Also upset about them pulling Algebra as a prerequisite. I had to take it twice, it was removed during my second attempt and the first attempt had a negative effect on my gpa.

When is the last time you checked for the updated curriculum? I was looking around last week and saw a course schedule up, but I believe it was under the north campus link.

Also, I uploaded docs into castle branch before the deadline, but they weren't approved until after, so idk if my app will be considered. I too have been told a few different things regarding immunization deadlines.

I've looked as recently as today. North's is up but their application period closed a while back. I can't imagine that they would expect applicants to be out of pocket all of the money associated with titers/vaccinations when a spot in the program isn't guaranteed. This was a point I brought up when I asked the admin, and she explained that it's suggested you start before the applications are due/decisions are made because the process can be time consuming and you CANNOT start the program without them, it isn't until you're accepted that they become mandatory. It's kind of a catch 22. You could run out of time if you don't start before you know you're in, but completing them with your application does nothing to increase your chances of getting in.
