San Jac ADN fall 2018

Published

With the deadline for the fall semester quickly approaching, I wanted to go ahead and create a forum. I am freaking out, I'm sure like many others about my acceptance!

I wanted to post my stats:

AP 1: B

AP 2: B

enlish: B

Micro: In progress

hesi: 90% overall

san jac gpa: 3.41

but I do have other transcripts to calculate in

I'm not 100% of my rubric score because of the gpa calculations and my micro grade.

I submitted my app today! Best of luck to everyone :)

To anyone that might be interested,

I have brand new and lightly used scrubs that I purchased for the ADN program at San Jac Central and i'm interested in selling for less than half of what they will charge you. The tops are L and the bottoms are XL. I have two clinical tops and two blue tops, 3 pants and a clinical cardigan, which is white. If anyone is interested please let me know. I can also answer questions if y'all have any.

How much do the uniforms cost? I'm going to North, but I think they might be similar prices

I spent $500 on everything, uniforms and equipment. I'm not sure exactly how much per top and bottom I paid. You will receive that information during orientation. And also North has different colors I believe. The ones for central are a royal blue. I would ask and see if it's also blue for North.

Does anyone have an idea how many alternates they accept at North? I too, was selected as a North alternate. Still yet to here from Central :/.. Beginning to think I didn't get accepted at all to Central.

I'm wondering that as well; I tried calling to ask but they never answer the phone. What was your rubric score if you don't mind me asking?

The uniforms for north are about $50 per set. You can buy as many as you want. They are different from central. There's two types of tops, one blue for class and one white for clinical. At north you can buy everything separate (stethoscope, shoes, watch) so you can look for the best price but the nursing bag must be bought through the school (the bag will be used for nursing skills)

were there any clinical the first semester and what days were they, and how long were they

The clinicals start on the second 8 weeks of the semester. They are 12 hours and they can be on any day of the week.

Thank you! How much are the supplies? I'm guessing this will cost several hundred?

The equipment packages for central range from $230-$280

*** to the ppl that have sent me private messages, I'm not able to send messages.

I had a rubric of 16. My comp grade is a C so I plan on retaking that and that'll give me 2 more points for an A. And then an extra point for my gpa. I have a 3.39 right now í ½í¹„ so that lll bump me into 3.4 at least. But I definitely need to retake my hesi. I took it twice an got an overall of 84. Does anyone have any advice on improving your hesi score? I have the 4th version book and studied that fairly well and even used pocket prep and still managed to score mediocre.

Hopefully I get called to fill in as alternate, otherwise I have some more work to do.

I've scored 90.4 both times taking the test and my only advice would be to not take for granted the math portion. It's simple math but if you forget basic rules it will surely mess you up. Take plenty of online tests to practice

Thank you! I did awesome with the reading and subsections but the grammar, vocab, and A&P were my toughest. Math was okay. But I'll need to retake if I wanna get anywhere in the 20s for my rubric next time.

Also, regarding North, it would be great to know if they tell everyone they are an alternate if not selected or just a handful of people. College of the mainland selects about 10 people to be alternates if they aren't accepted. If North also did this that would make me feel much better.

I only took the Hesi once and got a 94. I got 100 on the math section, 88 on A&P and 90+ on the rest. I don't think any part of the test is hard at all except A&P, and I still find it strange that it has the least questions of the whole test. The book I bought to study for it also didn't really cover the A&P questions that were actually on the test either...which made me feel I was going to fail it honestly. The math section is very easy, but please take your time on it. Do the question several times, and make sure you end with the same result each time. For questions you really can't figure out, I took the advice I read somewhere online and it worked- go with your gut feeling, and don't doubt yourself. If you think it's one answer, it just might be.
