San Francisco State Nursing Fall 2015 BSN applicants

U.S.A. California

Hi everyone!

I wanted to start an open conversation for anyone who applied to SFSU nursing fall 2015. Share your thoughts, questions, application stats here.

To those who have been recently accepted to SF nursing any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated (and congratulations to you!!) What helped you make the cut? How are you liking the program? Importantly, does anyone know when they send out admission decisions?

This is my first semester applying to nursing schools and am crossing my fingers for SF state nursing! Good luck to you all, hopefully we can start a good conversation here :)

I also applied and am anxiously waiting! I think we should hear back in late April! Super soon!

Has anybody heard back yet??

I just did! Waitlisted!

Is this for the RN to BSN route?

Is the acceptance letter received by mail or e-mail? I haven't received anything yet by e-mail, but I just moved out of my grandma's house, so she would be receiving any mail correspondence. I'm so anxious!

This is for just the BSN. And I got an email.

I was posting about the basic BSN program

Hey guys! So, I received an email from SF State's School of Nursing last Wednesday, April 30th, 2015 around 5/6 PM! Luckily and blessed, I have been admitted in the program  I can't be any happier right now! Regarding criteria and what I submitted with my application on Nursing CAS:

My GPA: 3.9

My Teas Score: ADVANCED :)

Hospital Experience: Lobby Desk volunteer, as well as a volunteer for the Family Center Postpartum Unit at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center

Letters of Verification: (1) Health-related work experience, having 200+ volunteer hours within the hospital and (2) Multicultural-related experience: being an altar server leader (educating young children how to serve for my parish), being a lector for the readings at mass, as well as a Eucharistic Minster, distributing bread and wine to the people of my parish :)

Another thing you all should know about me is this is my 2nd attempt at trying to get into the BSN program at state! The first year, I feel I didn't get accepted because my TEAS score was ONLY Proficient, which I thought was fine, but I decided to study even harder for the TEAS exam and achieve a higher score. I also think I got admitted into the program this second time around because I have been patient and committed and wasn't bothered by being denied/rejected into the program the first time around. I was also told by a counselor the year I got denied that I should just try re-applying, since the SFSU Nursing Committee will see my commitment. I know how competitive programs may be nowadays, but I am a firm believer of "Good things happen to those who wait" :) So, anyone who is reading this, DON'T GIVE UP AND CONTINUE TO WORK FOR WHAT YOU WANT! :) Your time will come at the right time.

I wish you all the best of luck and if you have any questions, feel free to ask me :) I won't be starting the BSN Program until Spring 2016, since as you might know, SFSU accepts 60-80 out of 800, and then they split the students up half half, half Fall 2015 and the other half Spring 2016.

If anyone has been in the BSN program or graduated from it, PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF THE PROGRAM! :) Thanks so much, and remember everyone! WE WILL ALL GET THERE, it just takes time :)

Sincerely,

Ari A.

The School of Nursing sends out admission via email! And if you get denied, (WHICH I HOPE NOT, :) ) the University sends out the email notifying you that you did not get into the program.
