Hello everyone,
I've been keeping an eye on San Diego City College during my time that I was completing my pre-reqs. I've also heard the horror stories of the length of their waitlists- come have waited 2-3 years!
I just looked on their site, and I guess they just changed everything! There is no longer a wait list! And now they're going by a point system! Has anyone noticed this?
After looking on their website, I tried calling the nursing office for some answers, but I couldn't get an answer- been calling for the past few days. Maybe someone here can help me???
- The application deadline is confusing. It says the last day is Apr. 30...BUT it also says that after March 2010, they will still be accepting applications for fall until May 1, 2010.
- Do you think it's still hard to get into?
Thanks so much for your help! =) I'll be making a move to San Diego from San Francisco...
If there had been a points system when I was doing my pre-reqs, I would have tried to get all A's. I didn't bother because I knew I didn't need it. vegas2009 is right. This points system is long overdue. Those with the top grades get in. Others have been doing this for quite some time. When I was in the program at City College it was really tough. They lost a lot of people. In implementing the points system, City College hopes to have the kind of students who can tough out the program and stick to the end. That's the main goal. Kudos to the CA CC's!
Thanks for the information!
I would like to apply to SDCC along with cypress college. I'm on their website and I couldn't find the application time period for lvns. Or am i looking in the wrong section?
Correct me if i am wrong, but SDCC RN programs start twice a year (FALL and SPRING)? I feel like I'm not searing enough for the information..
Yup, it sure does. Now, I'm just hoping SD nursing schools' new policy SPREAD all over California state nursing schools like wildfire. This change isn't going fast enough for me. Once they completely get rid of all waitlist/lottery BS, then California just change the game for ALL their neighboring states. Smart move.
i AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just used their posted "points grid" to rank myself - assuming I do so so on the TEAS, I came up with 74 points for myself. What do you think my chances are of getting in?
