Hi, all!
This is just a general discussion post for those who are looking to apply to sbvc's Spring of 2024 application. Here we can discuss the application process, total points accumulated for the application, TEAS, or any other topics that may help anyone else that might come across this post. Let's help each other out with some pointers and good luck to everyone. Looking forward to hearing back from some of you :)

Hello Cheerstojo,
Thanks for creating this thread! I submitted my application for Spring 2024, but I made a mistake on one of the sections, so I'm really worried my application will be disqualified. They very clearly say only 1 application can be submitted, so they may not allow me to submit another one... I'm so sad about it.
I emailed them about it today, I really hope they'll allow me to void the application I made a mistake on and submit a new one. *cries*
I bubbled in the incorrect general ED GPA range... I have a 3.59 general ED GPA (which gives me 10 points for that section) , but I mistakenly selected the 3.75-4.00 range (which is worth 15 points) smh!! So my total points calculation for that incorrect application is 5 points higher than what it should be. I really hope they let me fix it and submit a new application.
Anywho, I wish you the best! Did you submit your application already?
Hi!
Thank you for replying and making this thread come to life! hehe As for the application, I haven't submitted yet as I am waiting for a document to finally submit. But have you heard back from sbvc? I'm not sure how their whole application system works, but keep positive and make sure you can advocate for yourself with them. Make sure you make yourself heard. I know that sbvc has started a new multicriteria system for this application season. How many points did it leave you with for phase 1? I asked what's a good number of points to have before the TEAS, but they said that since they updated the multicriteria we'll pretty much set the standard after this. The pressure is on ! LOL anyway, may you have a great turn out with your applications ❤️ ?

Thank you for starting the thread! ☺️ I haven't received a response to my email yet ? but I will give it a couple more days and then send a follow-up email. I think I will also CC other nursing department admins if I can find their emails. I might try to meet with a nursing counselor and see if they can help me out. Thank you so much for asking and for your positive words ?
Okay I see, I hope you get the document you're waiting on soon! Just be sure to quadruple-check check you are checking off all of the right boxes and you'll be fine! I kind of like that the application period is in September because it makes the waiting period a little shorter compared to other schools whose application opens up in July/August ?
For phase 1, I have 52 points, but on my application, I put 57... ugh, I'm so stressed about it! And yesss, I heard they are even considering giving points to an AA/AS degree in the future, but I'm not sure! We'll see! Thank you so, so much! I hope you get into a program for Spring 2024! ? How many points will you have for phase 1? Have you taken the TEAS already? Is this your first time applying to RN programs?
Here's to a successful application season ! hehe ? I haven't taken the TEAS 7 yet, but I heard its supposed to be harder so I'm dreading it ? have you taken it yet or are you waiting to be one of the top applicants to get invited to take the TEAS? I also have 52 pts, so it should be a good sign that we're at least within that range :-) I haven't turned in my application yet, but for the life experience section, does only one category give us 4 points? and how are we supposed to show proof of the documentation they're asking for? I tried searching online and I could not find anything! LOL Were you ever able to get a reply back from sbvc regarding your application? :-) I haven't really applied to many schools this application season, but I keep telling myself that all I need is one school to accept me and I'd be solid ? but here's looking forward to the best outcome for the best of us ?☺️

I did take the TEAS 7 in June, 2023. I never took any earlier version, so I can't give my opinion on whether or not it's harder than previous versions. Buuuuut, I didn't receive any "select all" or picture identification questions. It was all single answer multiple choice questions and for the math section, entering numbers for specific answers. Do you plan on taking it with SBVC if invited?
I'm kinda sad the BSN CE/Bridge is only an option for Fall applicants, wish it was also an option for Spring. If we're accepted as ADN students in Spring 2024, do you think we have the option of getting into the BSN CE/Bridge program for Fall 2024 as current SBVC ADN students?
And yes, for the life experience section, it's 4 points awarded to just one of the experiences. And for mine I believe I selected first generation college student and to prove that, I asked mt HS principal to write a letter confirming I am first gen college student. I believe the proof options for that specific one are a letter from a clergy person, teacher, EOPS, counselor, etc.
Which one specifically do you have questions about? For low-income, I think you can show FAFSA/Pell Grant documentation, EOPS. For need to work, you can show a recent pay stub, or letter from employer (maybe staying you're a current employee?). Disabilities maybe DSPS, government documentation, or health records (maybe?). Difficult personal and family situation, I'm not sure... some schools stated we can write a letter confirming that, but IDK exactly what SBVC would or wouldn't accept. And for disadvantaged social or educational environment, I also don't know what they would/not accept (maybe a letter from the student as well explaining their situation?).
And thank you for asking/checking up with me! Yes thankfully I heard back ??? they stated that they received my GPA selection based on the grades I submitted on my application, and that I didn't enter the correct GPA based on those grades. But if I entered the incorrect grades themselves (which I did not, I entered them as they appeared on my official transcript), they mt application would be disqualified. So I'm thinking that may mean I have 57 points, IDK... I'm just going to tell myself I have 52-57 points to be safe and not get mt hopes up LOL! Plus, IDK if they're going to accept all my documentation anyway, so if not, then I really don't have 57 points.
And yessss, exactly! We just need one school to accept us. Crossing my fingers for all of us, I really hope we all get to start in Spring 2024 at least somewhere!

Not yet but it was mentioned on the email that they'll send out by 25th of October
Well that makes me feel better I wasn't sure if people were already reviving letters or not.

I do plan on taking the TEAS with Sbvc, if invited ? I feel so much better after hearing about your experience with the exam. As for the CEP bridge, I think it's just fall! I was counting on it being opened for all applicants but I guess they're still working on the program since it's still fairly new to sbvc. But we can always bridge somewhere else once we're in the program, so I'm looking forward to that! I'm also so glad they're still keeping your application! ? we should be hearing very soon about our status in the program, hopefully ?
And thank you for helping me with the application! I was feeling pretty nervous about it and double checking everything ?
By the way, what was everyone else's total points for phase 1 of the application? I haven't heard anything yet from the school, but I think we should be hearing something this week since I believe the TEAS will be taking place next week ??

You're welcome! I'm wishing you the best ??? we're almost there, we should be hearing back this week or next week, hopefully by the end of this week though! And you're right, I think once they get a few semesters in of the bridge/CEP under their belt, they may begin offering it for Fall and Spring.
