San Antonio Spring 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I just applied for the spring 2013 semester. Can anyone shed some light as to what kind of GPA I should be carrying... Right now I have a 3.0 with all of my pre reqs completed... If you don't mind me asking what was your current GPA and course completion for those of you that were accepted?

Has anyone not received their Blue Postcard for the background check yet? I did my prints on Fri. Oct 5th, that Monday was I guess Columbus Day, don't know if they count that as a holiday but I have yet to receive mine and they said only 7-10 days!! I'm worried it won't come in time to turn in our packets!!

Hi Kiki :) I got into spring flex one and I did my prints on Monday the 8th and still have recvd nothing in the mail :( this is making me nervous as well ... Keep me posted when you get yours :)

Hey everyone! Just to let you know I did my fingerprinting on October 5th and received my BON blue card in the mail last Friday October 19th. You have to make sure you look carefully through your mail. The blue card is not in an envelope rather it is like a small blue postcard. So keep an eye out and make sure you look through each piece of mail before you toss!

I wonder what happens if it accidentally got thrown away .... Is there a way to get a duplicate ?

I'll be taking my finger prints this Monday Oct. 29th and was worried not receiving my blue postcard on time. So, I called the nursing department and was told that as long as we have our receipt for our background and drug screening, that would be sufficient enough to turn in for the deadline.

Got my card today :)

If you haven't received your blue card it should be fine as mentioned before. Just have everything else complete and turn the card in when you get it asap. The dept. sent out an email stating it could take the BON 4-6 weeks to send the cards out, so just be patient.

I'm wondering if the location of where you get your prints done plays a factor into how soon you get the blue postcard. I had my prints done Oct 12, but haven't seen anything in the mail. It does make me nervous that I might have accidentally thrown it away with junk magazines we get. If in two weeks I don't receive it, then I'll worry! My packet is ready to be turned in and I couldn't be anymore excited about what's to come. Has anyone looked into instructors?

Hey all :) CONGRATULATIONS to all of you that get into the nursing program at SAC. Can anyone tell me if there is a waiting list at SAC? I'm trying to get everything that I need to apply next year or sooner.. I need your help and advice. I just need A&PI and II and Physiology, (I'm taking Biol 1322, and HITT) but I heard that they have a long waiting list at SAC, so I'm thinking in applying to the LVN program at St. Phillip, and then comeback to school to get my RN, or doing it on-line, that way I won't waste my time waiting, but I'm very confused at this point. What should I do? I have good grades, A&B's in most of my classes. What do I have to do to get into the nursing program?

There is no wait list for the program. ap 1 and 2 are going to be two of the harder classes you will take out of your pre Reqs so be prepared to study and memorization a lot... I am a big fan of flex classes ( I don't know if they do that at sac for science courses but that is how I took them at another school) it's a lot of work but I retained the information so much better because that's all I did was study and by the time the final came you only had to remember stuff from 8 weeks rather than 16!!! I suggest you go to the nursing information session they will provide you with a lot of the application information as well as the program information. If you have those classes completed along with the other class requirements for the program you should be accepted (of course you GPA is a big factor so make sure you are getting good grades) the fall 2013 application comes out in the spring so make sure you are checking the sac nursing site frequently.

There are no online RN programs you have to be present for clinicals...

I had been working on my pre reqs since fall 2008!!!! This is not norm I worked and took one maybe two classes at a time now... But my timing worke out perfectly because now my hubby and I can afford for me to got to school full time throughout the program and not have to work :)

Just get good grades and go to the info session you should be fine :)

Hi carolbandt! My advice to you is to just complete A&P 1 and 2 and apply for SAC RN Program instead of going to St.Phillips for LVN. I do not believe there are any programs online that are LVN to RN since you do have to attend clinical courses as well. I have always heard about this " waiting list " for SAC but that is completely untrue. There is no waiting list. You either meet the set requirements or you don't. I began my journey in Fall 2011 then continued taking pre reqs during Spring 2012 and took Life Span Growth& Dev as a Maymester course and Summer 1 Microbiology in order to be able to meet the application deadline. It was a very busy year but it paid off and was accepted to SAC for Spring 2013. Do not give up! I have two children under four years of age and it was difficult for me to manage taking so many classes and caring for them at the same time but I did it because I want to be able to provide for them. So they motivated me along the way and still are. I am sure you will be accepted into the program as long as you continue with A's and B's as you mentioned you have. I do not know if you want to work as a LVN first then RN because I think you have to work some months after you become a LVN in order to apply to SAC LVN to RN program. I think you are better off completing your A&P1 and 2 and applying. Definitely attend a information session too!

Does anyone know what supplies we need for Flex 1? I keep checking the nursing department announcements everyday with no luck. If anyone has any idea, please share. Thanks!! :)
