San antonio college (sac) adn program spring 2019

U.S.A. Texas

Hi everyone! So I got accepted for the Spring 2019 program and I am so excited about it. Anyone willing to give some advice for the program? :-)

I'm finishing my first semester too. It's possible to work and get good grades, you just have to make sure you make time for school and make it a priority. I work 3 days a week, and have only felt really stressed out a couple of times. Make sure you ask questions if you're confused about something. Most of the frustration has come out of things like the teachers not always communicating with each other or assignments not being on the calendar. Honestly, it's not terrible. More of an annoyance. The thing is that the teachers really want you to do good. Yes, it's disorganized, but they will work with you if there is a mistake. Just stick with it and you'll get through! Good luck!!!!

Hello L.h21! Your feedback is really helpful, at least we know what negatives to expect so we can better prepare for it. Thank you so much for that. Also, I am moving from Los Angeles to San Antonio for the program, I was wondering if it is doable to work part time for the first semester despite the work load? You said that fafsa can only grant partial money since it's we only have part time for the semester and I am going to be moving in with my boyfriend but still we have bills to pay and such.

I think if you have to work, part time is your best option. I don't suggest working full time... I had a friend who worked full time her first semester and she failed by 0.10 points on her final average, so when she repeated that class she worked part time. Wow, you're moving from L.A? Do you know how much is your tuition? I figure it will be pricy, when I first started in the program, I didn't live in San Antonio so my tuition was like over $5,000. For people who lived in S.A. it was around $2,300, but they increased the prices after my first year there, so idk how much it costs now.

Yeah I figured I was going to pay out of state tuition. I was expecting that we are going to be enrolled full time so I thought fafsa can cover the costs but you said that the first semester will only be part time, so my best choice would be to loan probably if financial aid doesn't cover all the expenses. What do you think? Do you have any advice?

I was wondering I applied for fall of 2019, what was your GPA and TEAS test results. I'm wondering if I did good enough to get in.

Thanks!!!

I had a 3.75 Science and 3.75 "other" GPA. 89 on TEAS. people got in with much less though.

Hey! How did the semester go?? I'm applying for spring 2020! What are the classes like? What were your GPA and TEAS scores? I have a 4.0 science and 3.85 other (got a stupid B+ in one of my psych courses, otherwise I'd have a full 4.0) I'll have 7/8 points for the TEAS, I'm trying to decide if I should retake it. I just barely missed the cut-off for science.

Ha! I had almost the exact same points as you. 4.0 in science, 7 points for my teas (I missed by 1 question on the reading) and a B for my lifespan psych class. I really don’t think you need to retake it. I got in for fall 18. About to go to level 3!!

I was so close for science!! I got 74% but I haven't taken A&P 2 (I'm taking it right now) so I was expecting to take a hit there. Oh well!

What are the classes like? How many hours a day/week? I'm trying to figure out what I'll need for child care and scheduling things. Nobody at the nursing department would tell me anything useful.

Lol.

So for level 1 you will have 5 classes. You will have:

Monday lecture 8-9am

Tuesday lecture 8-9am

Wednesday Lecture 8-12

Thursday clinical.

On Monday or Tuesday, you will have a lab class that starts at 9 and ends at 4 or 5 I think. Usually, we were out at 3. Your clinical will be 4 hours long. Some were at 7-11 (I think) and others were 12-4. You don’t get to pick which class you want. You just get assigned and have to work your schedule around it. The thing that takes up the most time are you assignments and studying for tests though. I worked 3 days a week, and there were some days where I get stretched thin. Especially on weeks where you have back to back tests. My best advice is don’t get behind. You don’t know how quickly things can pile up.

Do they have evening or weekend courses/lectures? I work during the day and looking to go in the evenings.

No evening classes. They are set times in the morning
