I just applied to Samuel Merritt's T2P program with CPMC. For those not familiar with this program, here is the link: http://www.samuelmerritt.edu/t2p
I wanted to start a thread since the few threads on the T2P program are outdated. Are there people on the same boat as me who applied this time around and are waiting to see if they made the cut? Does anyone know if the process involves interviews or if the decision is made solely on the application? Also, I'm curious as to how beneficial it actually is to pay for this preceptorship that doesn't guarantee employment. I've read somewhere that programs like this aren't considered valuable experience since it is not paid. I prefer to stay hopeful! Anyone complete the program? Please share your experience with landing a job after with CPMC or elsewhere. Does anyone know how often CPMC hires new grads through T2P and how many people are generally accepted into the program vs. how many applied? Maybe we can share the timeline of the acceptance/rejection process with one another on here. The search for employment and/or valuable experience after graduating is stressful, and any information is much appreciated!

Thanks for starting this thread! I applied as well. Going to a bay area nursing school is one of the criteria considered in the application, and I went to an out of state nursing school so I'm thinking my chances might not be great. I figured I might as well apply though because then at least there's some chance!
I heard that currently the only new grads that CPMC hires come through this T2P program, however I don't know how many they have or will hire. The program stresses that employment is not guaranteed, but again I think having a boost at a chance at employment is worth it, plus getting to improve nursing skills and build your healthcare network. The program also states that if you get an offer for other RN employment during the program they support you leaving to accept the offer, so it's not like you're locked in if something else comes up.
Good luck everyone!

I applied as well. I graduated from SMU a year ago and have not been able to find a job. So I'm really hoping they accept me, especially considering I gave them so much money in tuition. Anyway, I heard that we should have a decision by May 26. One of my former classmates went through this program last time around and got hired with CPMC and she said many others got job offers as well, but I have no idea how many/ what percentage. I'm hoping it's a good chance, but I figure it's better to get more clinical time and refresh my skills than to not, regardless of whether a job offer is made.

I got an email from SMU Admissions office this afternoon saying congratulations on your acceptance to take course(s) at SMU for the summer 2013 and then a lot of instructions on requirements to get done (i.e. health insurance, payment, etc). I'm of course assuming this means I got accepted, but I wish the email had specifically said something specific about Transition to Practice program. I guess I'm just a little weary of good news until it is totally clear.
Has anyone else heard anything?
I got the same email! I sent an email to one of the T2P contact people at SMU about it to confirm and ask a few questions. Ill let you know if I hear back...
I logged into my account and the tuition due is the amount for the T2P program, plus at some point I was able to see those words as something I was registered for. After clicking some stuff, I can't see that anymore. I'll probably call the school tomorrow to confirm, but yes, please let me know if you hear back.
I'm assuming they tell you what clinicals you're doing during the orientation that is listed for July 1?
Yea I logged in and it says I'm registered in the (T2P) course when I look at my summer class schedule.
I received the email too! Congrats to you guys and good luck to everyone!
Congrats to you that got in. I didn't get the email.
