Samuel Merritt University Fall 2022

Hello, I’m wondering who’s applying for program SMU the deadline is on December 1, 2021. To get into the fall semester of the following year? Just trying to create a thread.

I am looking to apply to SMU for the Fall 2022 start BSN program. I also applied for Spring 2022, but don't find out until 10/15. I'm not sure I was a very strong candidate, so we'll see!

I need to retake the HESI and finish Micro (taking this semester), but that's about it. I feel like I could add some volunteer hours too. My grades are fine, it's really my HESI I need to beef up. I also don't have any healthcare experience or healthcare volunteering.

GPA: 3.8

Science GPA: 4.0

HESI: Not great! LOL! Will be retaking

Volunteer hours: 150

Healthcare volunteer/work hours: 0

Letters of rec: one from a nurse who volunteered with me, one from a former manager

Is this for ABSN or just BSN?

Hi posted this for the BSN program.

Hi!!

I'm waiting for decisions for Spring 2022 but also started my Fall 2022 application and won't submit until I hear decisions....apparently decisions will be released Oct. 15.

GPA: 3.79

Science GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 88%

Healthcare volunteer/work hours: +200 hours
(Volunteer at Sutter and work at Kaiser - on call)

Letters of rec: Science Professor, nurse practitioner (I worked with) and also current manager.

Hi everyone! I am applying for the Fall 2022 cycle as well. I am a bit nervous after looking at last year's stats but I'm still hopeful. I'm surprised this thread doesn't have more replies? I wonder how many people are applying this term. Here are my stats:

GPA: 3.4

sGPA: 3.4

HESI: haven't taken it yet

Healthcare work hours: 500+

Volunteer hours: 50+, at a local church

Letters of rec: Microbiology professor & RN I work with (I'm a caregiver)

I have no idea what to put for the written portion LOL

I spoke to a counselor named John and he said my stats were pretty solid so hoping for the best.. good luck everyone!

Hey! I’m planning to apply as well since I was the one that created the thread LOL. Yeah I wonder why there hasn’t been more replies? Maybe they’re not aware of the site? IDK. Did John fill out a form and placed all your grades that they calculate onto that form? So is that how you checked what your overall score is?

Those are great stats! Have you heard back from SMU?

I just want to know if I’m calculating it right. He told me to calculate all the classes as the overall GPA? And obviously the science classes separate and that’s where a person stands?

I used https://gpacalculator.net/college-GPA-calculator/. I'm not sure how accurate it is but I think it is a good estimate. My college doesn't weigh in - or + grades, just average letter grades? If that makes sense LOL. I really wish nursingcas had a GPA calculator built-in.

Ohhh! No, he sent me a form that he filled out the classes I took and needed to complete which was 2 and told me to calculate all those classes that were on the form, & then my sgpa and that would give me an estimate of where I was. & that it was okay to apply with in progress or planned. It will be my first time applying ??

Haha not gonna lie I also have 3 classes in progress as well.. but I'm doing pretty well in them (all A's right now, knock on wood) so I calculated them anyways. I was told it's okay as long as you resubmit your official transcripts after the fall semester is over because they don't start reviewing applications until mid-January. Have you taken your 1st HESI/TEAS attempt yet?
