Hello!

I didn't see a thread for the SMU absn Spring 2021 cohort so I just wanted to start one!

I'm currently in the process of applying right now and working on my personal statements!

Hope you are all staying safe during this crazy time!

I have definitely had my share of frustration and anxious days during the extended wait time. In order to shift that energy a bit, I have tried to have compassion for the faculty committee who are dealing with the madness of our COVID world at the moment too. They are teaching full time, and having to learn to teach mostly online probably for the first time in their career. The online experience and classroom dynamic is certainly different than in person and teaching methods have to be adjusted and relearned a bit.  In addition to that teaching load, they have double or more the normal number of applications to review for the admission process.  All of that doesn’t change my anxiousness, but it helps me to humanize what is happening, and understand why there might be delays. It shifts my attitude a bit while I wait.

True, but at same time they shouldn’t be telling us within 2 weeks or 5-7 days....when it wasn’t kept. Especially when program is so $$$. Thank you for the insight! 

Also, not sure if the teachers even really help decide. I mean to be honest, I’m sure if they prioritized  it, it would have been done by now. The first wave was 5/1 before the second wave apps!

No you’re right! For a expensive program we should expect more right?! Esp since they’ll be expecting us to meet deadlines. They should reflect the behaviors they expect upon their students LOL. 
 

FYI - don’t expect it though because my friend had similar issues as well when she was accepted and getting ready to start the ABSN program.

I get where you’re coming from.  I’m hoping we get answers soon, so we can all move forward. I just personally can’t keep spinning in the negative thoughts and questions. It’s not helpful for my own mental health. Some days have been easier than others in the wait for me.   It’s nice to know we’re not in this alone.
