I am a prospective student for Samuel Merritt University for the cohort starting in Spring 2014. Campus of choice is San Mateo. I am considering the ELMSN-NP program as well since the prereqs are identical.

1. I was seeking information on TEAS test experience. What is the cut off for this test to get in? I have to take this test within the next few weeks in order to make the July 1st cutoff application. (I wanted to take this test after I finished my prereqs which will be completed by Sept 14th) Currently I am finishing up A&P I lecture/lab and Nutrition courses within the next 2 weeks, also currently taking Microbiology lecture/lab which will be complete by Aug 24th and signed up for A&P II lecture lab, Pathophysiology, and Pharmacology courses starting at the end of June and ending Sept 14th 2014 to make me 100% complete. I am currently making an A in all the courses attempting now. I have an undergrad gpa of 3.1 and science gpa of 3.5

I am currently on the east coast and have been serving in the military for 6 years. I lived in Orange County prior to joining for 6 months and have visited California numerous times and loved every second of it so I know this is where I want to end up, hence is why I am applying for programs out there.

I also wanted to know about anyones experience in previous cohorts at any of the campuses for both ABSN and ELMSN programs.

If anyone else is applying for Spring 2014 please respond to this thread as well that way we can get to know each other somewhat and give a chance to those that get accepted to start networking. Wish everyone the best of luck!!

anyone else wait-listed or accepted to CM?

Hi everyone, I guess Im super late to the party haha.

My name is Alex and I was accepted to the elmsn fnp program in sacramento starting jan 2014.

I was in a peculiar situation but now I hope Im in the right spot. I just want to introduce myself to everyone and excited for orientation next month.

Also, I would like to add the facebook group, but I guess Im not finding it when I search on Facebook.

Is this a closed group?

Im searching for smu elm fnp 2014 and samuel merritt elmsn fnp 2017 and I got nothing so far.

On other news. I have a friend who was accepted in the oakland cohort a few months ago? I forgot when they started, I know it was pretty recent, and nowthey are already going to hospitals. So this is going to be a fast and furious program to be going to the hospital pretty quickly. Which is fun and motivating.

Here's what I know about Fed Loans under FAFSA... You can borrow up to $138,500 in loans from the Fed Govt. for undergrad n grad combined. It used to b both subsidized n unsubsidized, but I think that has changed, and now it's just unsubsidized loans available. You can also get Plus Loans while you're at SMU, but they are based on credit.

The rate is 6.8%

Did you move up on the waitlist?

It really depends on your financial need, but the financial aid (all loans) will cover tuition, books, and cost of living. Not like a luxury style of living but enough to live comfortably.

I think I read in an earlier forum that you're currently in the FNP program. Am I correct? If so, can you pls shed some light on the pace and rigor of the program? I would really like the authentic insight. Also, thank you for answering the FA question above.

THANK U!!

Does anyone know about our schedule for the first two semesters? My husband who will live in San Diego was wondering if we would get holidays (MLK) and weekends off.

Do we just have classes the first 4 semesters or do we go to the hospitals too? Southwest Airlines has a sale right now $49 each way, so we're trying to plan accordingly.

Thank you!

As far as I know, clinicals start right away along w/didactics...and, if you go to Samuel Merritt University and click on "Current Students" and choose "Academic Calendar," you can find a rough academic calendar for graduate studies under the 2012-2013 Academic Calander menu. This calendar covers 2010-2015. I'm not sure how up to date it is, but it may help you plan a little better.

Good luck!

Hey,

This's Teresa from the group interview. You can find the calendar on the 2013-2014 student handbook.
